It's a no-brainer. Just rename the city Los 'Angles' and most wouldn't know the difference.

Now, those Sangre de Cristo mountains in New Mexico--that's going to take more work. After all, Sangre de Cristo means 'blood of Christ.'

[If the ACLU gets a go-ahead on Los Angeles, EVERY name in the US they dislike will have to change. Talk about PC-run-amok---and the taxpayers will have to pay for all the new signs.]

Hmmm, what will they offer for a new name?
Castrograd perhaps?
Chomskystadt?
Villa Chavez?

Power-seekers like clumsy termininology (since forces everyone to go out of their way to accommodate PS preferences). How about O'Hair-RamseyClarkberg?

I've got it, Multicultistan.

Isn't funny how the left sees the bill of rights:

The first Amendment, starting with "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion", applies to all levels of government, right down to states and cities.

But the second amendment, stating "The right to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" only applies to the federal government, and the states / cities can do what they want and not violate it.

Fascinating.

Just what religion does the name Los Angeles establish? Aren't angels (or spirits) common to most religions?

Shouldn't we be able to ban the ACLU as they do the work of the devil, a very religious character identified in Islam?

The goal is to purge all religious…references from American public life.

Not religious references really. Just Christian. There is no end to the madness upon which the ACLU embarks.

University of California Seal. Religious, yes, but an Old Testament reference. ACLU will not touch, as it is Judeao-Christian, not Christian, and they wouldn't want to take on the UC constituency, which is too similar to the ACLU's.

Intersection Warning Sign. How long will the cross be tolerated?

New Mexico State Flag. It has a Cross, it is religious, but it isn't Christian. ACLU won't be interested.

The yellow field and red symbol colors are the colors of Spain. First brought to New Mexico by Spanish explorers in 1540. On New Mexico's flag we see a red sun with rays stretching out from it. There are four groups of rays with four rays in each group. This is an ancient sun symbol of a Native American people called the Zia. The Zia believed that the giver of all good gave them gifts in groups of four. These gifts are:

The four directions - north, east, south and west.
The four seasons - spring, summer, fall and winter.
The day - sunrise, noon, evening and night.
Life itself - childhood, youth, middle years and old age.
All of these are bound by a circle of life and love, without a beginning or end.

A strong legal argument can be made that the name of the city of Los Angeles -- even worse its formal name, "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Little Portion" -- violates the constitutional requirement for separation of church and state.

Constitutional requirement for separation of church and state? It amazes me that there are so many ignorant people in this country who apparently have never read the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The ACLU guy says he doesn't expect anyone to challenge it-
You have got to be kidding.
All it takes is one with ACLU help.

This was obvious from the moment the cross was removed. Wonder what it will cost to vchange a LA's name and if the people of CA can sue the orginaly name-suit plaintive for reimbursement of tax dollars. Noit trivial poursue the name of the a several million person city.

"The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Little Portion"

In my recollection, there is no "portion" mentioned in the formal name of Los Angeles:

"El Pueblo de nuestro Señora, la ciudad del la Reina de Los Angeles", is, I belive, the formal name in español.

I think that evenually, they're going to bully the wrong jurisdiction. So far, they've been cherry-picking their fights. All it will take is just for one small town - somewhere - to say to the ACLU and the associated activist judges, "Do the letters F.O. mean anything to ya?", and it'll be a different ballgame. I think the pendulum will swing back with such force that it knocks them back on their secular keisters for a long time. One single case of open defiance by a community could tie the issue up in court for years.
