That's one of the confused mindsets of some homosexuals and their enablers. Just because many folks disagree that homosexuality should be encouraged doesn't mean they hate homosexuals.
When somebody thinks you're living a dangerous lifestyle doesn't mean they hate you. Just as the friend of a drug abuser asks the drug abuser to stop taking drugs and clean up their act - that doesn't mean the friend hates the drug abuser.
It's the homosexual enabler that is more likely demonstrating hatred towards homosexuals.

People who do the right thing need to hear some encouragement now and then :-)
It's a shame that homosexuals don't understand that we don't hate the person but the lifestyle. We "Haters" view them as living in and practicing evil and reject this as a normal or alternative way of living.

A young female friend of mine was wearing a “Virginia is for Haters” T-shirt last week. I commented that I didn’t know she was a lesbian.
She looked shocked. I then told her about the T-shirt and website.
She thought it was just a joke on the Virginia motto.
She no longer has the T-shirt.

Yep, an indeterminate--but likely small--percentage of maybe one or two percent of the population, now that's likely to really wallop Virginia's manufacturing and tourism industries.
