The question: "What is the cause and the motive behind Islamic terrorism?
It isn't because of the Palestinians, it isn't that Arabs are poor, it isn't because we are a decadent society with homsexual marriage, our meddling in their affairs, etc. And contrary to what our honorable President Bush says; It's not because they "hate our freedom."
(I used to subscribe to that theory as well.)
None of that is the reason... all that nonsense is just WINDOW DRESSING for Islamo-apologists, and the anti-American LEFT!
Now here below, is Ibn Warraq's statement on this issue.
It is EXACTLY what carton 253 just related.
- Mud, pay attention now, ya hear? :)
Warraq WAS an Arab Muslim, so he knows what in the heck he is talking about:
Warraq- "It is surely time for us who live in the West and enjoy freedom of expression to examine unflinchingly and unapologetically the tenets of these fanatics, including the Quran which divinely sanctions violence. We should unapologetically examine the life of the Prophet, who was not above political assassinations, and who was responsible for the massacre of the Jews."
Ah, but you are confusing Islam with Islamic fundamentalism? The Real Islam has nothing to do with violence, apologists of Islam argue.
Ibn Warraq-
"There may be moderate Muslims, but Islam itself is not moderate. There is no difference between Islam and Islamic fundamentalism: at most there is a difference of degree but not of kind. All the tenets of Islamic fundamentalism are derived from the Quran, the Sunna, and the **Hadith** Islamic fundamentalism is a totalitarian construct derived by Muslim jurists from the fundamental and defining texts of Islam. The fundamentalists, with greater logic and coherence than so-called moderate or liberal Muslims, have made Islam the basis of a radical utopian ideology."
*Sura means chapter.
**Hadith means tradition.
OF COURSE!
I thought everyone knew that!
Except, maybe, our fearless leader--though he may feel constrained to soften that awareness for diplomatic reasons. A dubious enterprise, at best, to me.
I don't believe this is true at all. The God or Yahweh I read about in the Holy Scriptures does not at all resemble the god that the Muslims worship.
I don't think a thread about Reagan's funeral is the place for this....however, since you insist on pinging........
"There may be moderate Muslims,..."
Not Maybe >> ARE. And LOTS of Them. And that's the point.
Case closed.
The reason is Islam...
As you know, Islam is a conquering religion. It was to be propagated through conquest. Mohammed spread it throught conquest...so did the his followers after his death...
The "glory" of Islam found it covering the territory from Spain to the Phillipines and on the verge of conquering Europe... it has slowly been pushed back.
But once a territory has been conquered for Islam it forever belongs to Islam...so the areas that have been "reconquered" by that other civilization is still Islam.
Bin Ladin is true to Islam's destiny. To conquer and dominate the world. That is inherent in the Qu'ran. The fact that Islam has been retreating since the middle ages shows not a civilization in decline, but to the jihadist, a people in backsliding heresy. That's why the Wahabbis take the war to other Muslims. They have not obeyed the idicts of their religion. The jihadists must, to be fully obedient to the full intent of Allah's idict, rise up and conquer in the name of Islam. Both the territory that they have lost and those territories that have yet to conquered. The United States stands as the citadel for the unconquered. That's why they hate us. Because to obey fully, the United States must be gotten out of the way. Either physically or crushing our will to fight. That is what Bin Ladin is trying to accomplish.
The real Islam is full of violence.
Now, the question is do all Muslims believe or accept that part of Islam? It would be like asking do all Christians believe the full scope of the Bible. There are those who do and those who don't.
Please take me off your ping list.
Thank you.
Thanks for the reply FRiend. Mudboy Slim invited me to post here.
I asked him if I could enjoin his thread on the topic: What is the "cause" of Islamic terrorism?
Don't take it as a personal insult. I understand you are a Muslim, yes?
Well...Ibn Warraq WAS also a devout Muslim, and he is well educated and versed in the Koran, all it's versions, all the Hadiths, and all the Islamic scholars.
Isn't it possible that Warraq very well knows what what he is talking about?
But I won't bother you again...Keep your eyes Wide-Shut, FRiend.
Some folks would rather live in a fantasy world than deal with reality...it can be a very bitter pill to swallow sometimes. Such is the case with the truth about Islam, and it's founder, the "Prophet".
Regards
pretext! Better word for it.
Glad I met you Carton. Thanks for the replies.
Catch you another time.
Regards
"you are a Muslim?" No.
Radically anti-Jewish and anti-western Muslims are into it for "political reasons," according to revelations from those who were being very frank. It's an attempt by gangs (like socialists) at conquering the world. They want power promised to them by their own despots who cheat them and lie to them.
hmmm, big questions...
motivations? depends exactly which terrorists you are talking about. some groups like hezbollah have specific regional goals regarding israel, and to a lesser extent things like the islamification of lebanon. as discussed recently, they have decided to focus on these goals and avoid america for the obvious reasons that they dont want to get their asses kicked.
theres another movement symbolised by osama bin laden you could call the 'worldwide jihad' movement. i believe 9/11 was a kind of call to arms for them. ive described it as the islamics 'you are either with us or against us'.
the worldwide jihad movement wants to polarise the world into factions. in order to build support and get the vast muslim population behind them, they need to push the west away from the moderates. the vast majority of muslims, just like the vast majority of westerners, are just average family people. yes, they might have anti-american views, but these are just opinions and you can find any number of westerners with similar views. worldwide jihad seeks to convert this latent anti-americanism into action, into jihad. they are a long way from victory, which requires numbers and support. without an undercurrent of popular support, terrorists are nothing. its their oil. they need it.
to this extent i am concerned and closely watching the prosecution of the iraq war. we have made some mistakes. civilian deaths were somewhat minimised, which is good (despite a few mistakes), and these will be forgotten. but abu ghraib was a major loss in this war for the islamic moderates. whatever way you spin it, there is a less obvious war behind the conventional war and we need to be smart about it. mistakes like abu ghraib CANNOT be allowed to threaten the war on terror. its a complex and byzantine world of intrigue and politics over there, and 'nuke em all' responses are essentially an 'i give up' response to this complexity.
i think that the 'revenge' mentality after 9/11 weakens us. it blinds us to the real battle, and provocations like the beheadings again aim not to make afraid, they goad us into hating muslims. in this way the terrorists win, because they aim to influence american public opinion. we need to make decisions to win, not to satisfy our thirst.
as for the 'this is our fault' argument, things arent that simple. we have made some mistakes, and weve made some rather morally questionable decisions in the region. i know people that lived through the iran/iraq war. a friend grew up in a town near the border that simply isnt there any more. an iraqi missile hit close enough to my wife and her family to break the windows of their house. (yes im married to an iranian.) having our hand on both sides of an extended and bloody war is something that i regret. and we did it for our own benefit.
but these actions and mistakes are all part of a larger and complex shifting picture. various events have been propagandized and used to create the 'great satan'. our hand in so many areas means that false claims are given the aura of truth by association with those that are true. abu ghraib was a loss not just because of the picture it painted to the moderates, it now make spurious claims more beleivable. its harder to say 'we would never do that kind of thing'. see?
as for israel and palestine, theres no way i support terror. what the palestinians do is despicable and vile. but israel isnt perfect either. its been said many times before that if the palestinians had a ghandi instead of an arafat, then they would have had their valid claims addressed a long time ago. unfortunately they want a lot more than that. also, i think the rest of the arab world likes having palestine as a buffer to israel. the palestinians are the meat in the grinder. despised by the rest of the arabs (yes they are, dont beleive anything about 'our palestinian brothers', its all about israel and propaganda) and essentially occupied by israel they are dumb pawns. in my opinion israel needs to get rid of more recent expansion (settlements), and settle the borders at what they have captured in the war (excepting what they gave back to egypt). i know israelis who think the same. ive heard them describe the settlers as 'troublemaking rednecks', and they arent leftists even by israeli standards. once that region settles down, apathy will eventually win the battle. you cant change opinions with a tank.
basically, worldwide jihad is a big danger, but we must be careful about how we respond. the immediate and feelgood response by overwhelming force may seem attractive, but isnt always suitable. we need to realise there is a bigger game going on and just cause someone calls 'chicken' doesnt mean we have to react the way they are goading us to. dont let the terrorists dictate our reactions. play smart, play sneaky, and when we do find and identify the specific bad guy... well, blow his f***ing head off.
haha, yeah im sure all those doctors and restaraunts are all part of a massive secret conspiracy. while beleiveing in this kind of worldwide islamic plan mnight give you a kind of moral certainty, the real world is never so simple.
the danger is here, and the danger is real, but jumping at shadows and thinking every brown skinned person is part of some massive organised plot doesnt help.
Thanks for the ping. I will go to my email and FReepmail you a copy of the 'History of Islam', and it will scare you silly!!

yes i did read and comprehend the source. the intention is still clear. it wants to paint a picture where every single muslim activity is somehow related to a universal plot to take over the usa by 2020?
frankly, i dont like islam, i dont like its customs, i dont like the way its laws treat women, i dont like a lot of things about it. but i find such all encompassing conspiracy theories ludicrous.
heres a conspiracy theory: theres a bunch of extremists who would happily kill you or i and they are plotting to kill westerners and to increase their popularity in the muslim world. now thats a conspiracy theory that makes a lot of sense. the evidence bears it out.
i dont think the preponderance of arab doctors is part of a massive muslim plot.
BUMP!
thanks!
