What a lot of people don't realize is that in addition to the grieving over Reagan as President, there is the identification directly with the lives of so many Americans.

Many of us have been affected directly and deeply by Alzheimer's.

For many, there is a personal pain as well as the common pain we all share.

My grandmother began to decline in the late 90s. At a Thanksgiving dinner, she didn't recognize me right off. Alzheimer's had robbed this vital, vibrant and spry woman of herself.

"Who is this fine looking gentleman?" she asked my aunt.

"Mother, it's Mike! See?"

I simply looked down at her and smiled.

Recognition flooded her eyes as she looked at me. "There's my Mikey," she smiled.

She's the only person I've ever allowed to call me "Mikey," before or since.

A couple of years later, about a month before she died, I visited home to see ehr once more. She was quiet. Pensive.

I was just happy to see here, even though she didn't recognize me when I got there.

My grandfather had baked a cake, and shoved a huge hunk in front of me at the table.

I heard a whisper. "Mikey?"

My head whipped around. "Yes, Geggie?"

She had a hint of that mischevious glint in her eye. But only a hint.

She pointed at my plate.

"You want some cake?" I asked.

She simply held out her hand, and tapped it.

I gave her a piece of my cake. She loved it.

We lost her about a month or so later.

I am glad to know that I wan't the only guy crying.

I must say that watching how beautifully all the military did makes me glad to be an American. I don't think I have ever been more proud to be an American than I have this week.

I want to thank all you freepers for posting for the cubicle bound during the week. Time to toast to the Great One.

I'm watching C-Span, they're still showing mourners coming before the casket. If you want to get the camera to do a close up on your face, it helps if you're blonde, beautiful and weeping.

Believe that President Reagan's gift to America will be born out this November

Mrs. Don-o, the other night, offered that she might take our boys (homeschoolers) to a battleground state this fall.

She hates to travel, but, wise woman, sees the stakes in November.

It would be great to get a list of everyone who was there tonight, so we can see who the 'good guys' are in Hollyweird. Are they signing in a condolence book? Can we sneek a peek at it???

Seeing the number of younger actors here, I have faith that we are going to turn the corner -- going to take time but it is up to each and everyone of us to carry on the Reagan Revolution step by step, person by person, voter by voter.
