NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - McDonald's Corp., the No .1 fast-food chain that's been on a mission to its revamp its image, said it will offer Coca-Cola's new low-carb "C2" cola in a limited number of its restaurants.
Oak Brook- Ill.-based McDonald's (MCD: Research, Estimates), announced late Thursday that the company is sampling C2 in about 27 restaurants in five markets, including Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Orlando.
"We're responding again to what our consumers are telling us they want," Don Knauss, McDonald's chief operating officer of its North America division, said in a statement.

Yeah, but it tastes like cr*p! That's what I used to think, until the office where I worked had a fridge stocked with free Diet Cokes. I started drinking it because it was free, but thought it had a terrible aftertaste. But you just have to drink it for a while and you don't notice it. Now it's all I drink.
Go get a case and drink one every day for a week or two, and soon you won't be able to tell the difference between diet and regular.

I drink DC as a last resort, as I gaze upon my can of Caffeine Free diet Pepsi. But if DC tasted like Coke, then I would drink that.

Yeah, unless you drink Coke for the sugar. :)

Sorry, but I'm one of those people that can identify all the variations of Coke/Pepsi, Diet Coke/Diet Pepsi. I've even had friends try to test me and I was correct 100% of the time.

I can't drink the diet colas...
HOWEVER, the diet 'clear' drinks (Fresca, Sprite etc) are wonderful.
Just don't drink Diet Mountain Dew before bedtime.
It is diet, but it is loaded with caffiene!

Yeah, but it tastes like cr*p!Taste is an acquired thing. I've been drinking Diet Coke most of my adult life, and on those rare occasions that I try a regular Coke, it tastes overly sweet to me. I usually end up drinking only half of it and then dumping the rest down the sink.

After a couple of rum and Diet Cokes, you don't hardly notice the diet part at all. Especially if you've got a little Captain in ya.

I sent a little love note to McD's earlier this week regarding many of their stores not flying the flag at half staff.Driving to work one morning, I noticed Ol' Glory flying upside down at a McD's. It was flying correctly by the end of the day.

I don't drink Coke often, but when I do, it has Jim Beam in it :)

Anyone who's ever tried it knows Diet Coke tastes
nothing like real (Classic) Coke. If Coca-Cola ever gets a clue and starts selling a Diet Classic Coke, I'm running out and buying it. In the meantime, I buy Diet Pepsi.
If this "low-carb" Coke is or leads to Diet Classic Coke, this is great news and it's long overdue.

Good call, I plan on sailing with the Captain this weekend. And hoisting a few glasses to the Gipper!

"I much prefer the taste of fiet Coke to that of regular Coke."
Boy I wish I did. It's that immediate aftertaste I can't stand. It's actually sweeter to me then the regular Coke. If I could find a cola without that aftertaste I'd drink it, but since I don't drink that much anyway I'll just continue to take mine straight.

This is a stupid marketing move. Remember the "Arch Deluxe" burger, and the hot-side/cold-side McDLT that had the cheese on the cold side?
Yep, Mickey D's really has its finger on the pulse of America!

I saw this C2 at Safeway for the first time last night. I was curious and took a look at the ingredients... corn syrup is still the main ingredient, but below that is Aspertain. I can't figure out what thepoint is? If you are willing to put up with the taste of the fake sweet why not just get Diet Coke and have zero carbs?
I was hoping they had just cut the total amount of sweetener. As I get older, Coke is getting too sweet for me and Pepsi is absolutely undrinkable.

One time I accidentally got a little bit of fresh Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil in my mouth.
Tastes just like Diet Coke. [spit]

I hate their new tagline "I'm Lovin' It". The music, the ads, it all seems to be targeting metrosexuals and women (same difference, I know.) I think if I became CEO of a company like McDs, first thing I'd do is fire everyone in marketing. And not replace them.McD's sales are way up since that ad campaign started.
To: MarkeyD
Shame on you for wasting good Jim Beam by diluting it with Coke! At least you didn't say "Maker's Mark" If you want to add something sweet to bourbon, make a Perfect Manhattan (a Manhattan made with sweet vermouth: ie. Martini Rosso)
