Taste is an acquired thing. I've been drinking Diet Coke most of my adult life, and on those rare occasions that I try a regular Coke, it tastes overly sweet to me. I usually end up drinking only half of it and then dumping the rest down the sink.
I don't drink Coke often, but when I do, it has Jim Beam in it :)
