TEL AVIV, Israel, June 11 (UPI) -- A Palestinian couple frustrated over their inability to marry approached Israeli lines hoping to be shot together, it was reported Friday.
Soldiers suspected the couple were not militants and held their fire, the Yediot Aharonot newspaper said on its Web site.
The couple in their late 20s have been friends for six years and upon questioning, told officials they could not marry because of a dispute between their families, a military source told United Press International. They decided suicide was their only option.
They approached the Kfar Darom settlement early Wednesday. The woman dropped her bag when soldiers approached and hugged the man when soldiers pointed their guns at them. Soldiers asked the woman to move aside so they could search the man, but she would not let go of him until shots were fired in the air.
After searching and questioning the pair, the army released them, confident they were not affiliated with any terrorist organizations.
The burden of proof is on Islam, not on America or its allies.
Burden of Proof Bump.
"being born and raised in a Muslim country doesn't make you a Muslim."
Well it certainly doesn't make you a Christian or a Jew. How many Muslim countries do we know of who actually tolerate and respect a differing religion? How many Muslim countries actually allow non-Muslims to worship in their country?
BTW....welcome to FR!
did you know that when the crusaders invaded isreal that muslim and jews fought side by side and returned the jews their land? Its ISRAEL, not ISREAL (Is-real?). Ill assume the alternate spelling is an accident. Crusaders, if Im time traveling and hear someone with a sword yelling Hep! Hep! Hep!, Ill look around for a local Mulim ally. In 2004 the problem centers more around Muslim, Oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!, with Christians included in the mix. Im sure youre sincere, but in the 21st century Islam doesnt represent peace. Either your bretheren or the jihadists better come up with a new name, because the rest of us cant tell you apart based on ideology. And aour non-co-religionists who operate under the spell of your faith should realize that, these days, the Jew or Christian they find behind a tree may well be preparing to return fire.

> . islam promoted freedom of religion.
Uh, no. The Koran promotes the conversion of others (typically at the point of a sword,) OR the paying of higher taxes by those of other religions. Forcing others to convert or extorting them is hardly "freedom of religion."
this too is a misconception. islam promoted freedom of religion. and yes i know thats hard to believe since its not practiced, but again those who deviate are not truly muslim.
How convenient for you.
If it's not practiced, it then what is it? What does that say?
That's monotheistic religions predating Islam only (Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity). Kill all the pagans or Ba'hais that you want.
BTW= by the way
I am sorry that you have lost sight of the Crucified Christ who died for your sin.
Blackmuslim,
I have wanted to ask a question to a Muslim since Sept 11 01, perhaps you can answer it for me. As I recall the Pope, Russia, and even China (arguably our worst enemy of the time) all expressed condolences, and outrage over the atrocities of that day within 48 hours. The first Muslim of stature to say anything even hinting that they were not pleased with the events was months later. Now for the question: If Muslims do not Condemn, and stop those among them who are radicals, how can they expect us to believe they do not support them?
In the words of my father If you care about your belongings, Clean your own house.
"Islam promoted freedom of religion, and yes I know thats hard to believe since its not practiced, but again those who deviate are not truly Muslim."
Then most Muslim countries are not really Muslim, because they all practice intolerance for differing religions.
