You may have missed the point. It was Bernard Goldberg pointing out, and Wolf agreeing, that the hostile media missed out on the true portrait of Reagan 15 years ago, and misrepresented who he was and what was happening. It was a condemnation of the media.
I must have misunderstood:
"What I've been reading and what I've been hearing, I did not get during his two terms in office. Or did I miss something?"
To me, he is saying he is reading and hearing all the great and fine things Reagan did during this week of rememberance and that didn't jibe with how he remembers it.
But I can see how your interpretation works too.
This is what the media is doing today to President Bush. They are more partisan now than they were then. It's terrible to watch during this war, too. Shame on them.

Was it really B. Goldberg or was it Bernie Shaw. I heard it was Bernie Shaw saying this - which is a whole lot different from Bernie Goldberg.
