Ann Gerhart, two days ago, said that people who lined the streets to see Reagan's funeral cortege were there because A. they had nothing better to do with their time, or B. it was an historical occasion, a president dying, so they decided to show up. No biggie, in other words. The real test of the public's affection for RR would be, she said, how many bothered to show up for the viewing in the Rotunda. Talk about a dumb broad.

i DON'T DOUBT she has a lot of faith. What is the faith in?

Her seeking fortune tellers was not impressive.

Michael's words and the staffer/friend's words are not comforting. I still think she needs a lot of prayer.

I'm impressed with her, think the world of her etc. but that's not the key point.

Thankfully, as one has written, God is Merciful. But He does have a requirement. As Christ said, 'no man comes to the Father but via me.'

How in the world did Nancy manage to hold onto her composure during all this? It's absolutely amazing.

Anyone know who all the members of the family were, besides the Reagan
children and their mates? Are they Pres. Reagan's siblings children?

I don't know. I was wondering the same thing.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I turned my attention to FOX News when
this started this morning. Playin' FR catchup now.

The "jumping" isn't the problem..it's the LAANDING...the danger is, for old folks..bones are brittle..even a slight mislanding..can result in a broken limb, or hip..and that's a long painful healing process..bones don't knit well at that age..you can often develope infections in the bone..thta's why the risk/reward % for a jump at that age doesn't compute..

I don't like heights so for me, the jump 'would' be the issue! lol I understand about the landing. Maybe he should consider bungee instead? :)

A tidbit from the Washington Post:
Among the many lawmakers in attendance was Sen. John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee to run against President Bush in November. He sat in the third row stage left, with much of his view blocked by the cathedral's massive pulpit.
LOL!

I happen to strongly agree with your son.

President Reagan, in passing, remains capable of what he did in living.

I bet somewhere in all this GW has asked RR to lend a helping hand in the war against America's enemies.

Reagan when he was pres. of SAG, pushed through contracts that ensured actors would be paid when shows were replayed on cable or went into syndication

When he negotiated this agreement, Ronald Reagan excluded himself from this provision. So, he was the only actor in the SAG who never received any residual payments.

Agree, may God Bless his soul...leaders make eras "historic" by their actions. I guess, technically, all eras are "historic." It is how the leader leads that makes a history or a legacy "great," "good," "historic," or otherwise. President Reagan made his era "historic" and President Bush is doing the same now.

Against federal law for air traffic controllers or any other group of Government workers to strike. When you sign the paperwork to go civil service and take the oath, you agree not to strike. The ATC's threatened Pres Reagan, he told them not to strike or he would fire them, they struck, and he fired! Civil Service Unions are some of the worst if you ask me -- waste of money since they hold Government jobs (what a joke!).

Same thing happened at Tinker AFB, OK, back when I worked at the HQ at WPAFB, OH -- the wage board people threatened to go on strike, the Commander said if you do, I will fire you. They kept up the rhetoric and personnel had the paperwork ready to go for anyone that went on strike. They backed off when they found out he was serious -- you strike as a Government worker -- you get fired! There was no negotiation.

If you get CSPAN1 I think they might be showing todays services. I just turned back to CSPAN1 and they removing the casket from the Capitol. So perhaps they will be showing the Cathedral services soon.

I have it on C-SPAN as well as they seem to be replaying the entire service after they just finished LBJ's service. What a contrast!

She brought up his issues with the air controller thing, and I had no answer for that one, could'nt remember the reasons besides being illegal for govt to strike.

I caught just a little tid bit on this yesterday I think. They said they wouldn't strike and then they did. They went back on their word and I think this was why he did what he did. Wish I could remember who related the story.
