LIVE THREAD--Reagan State Funeral Ceremony: Lying in State at the Rotunda (6/11/04)
Sun rising just as the service ends... President Reagan has a sense of theater even in death...
Just as the procession left the cathedral my four year old Luke said "He is going home..."
* side note*(Luke is one of our special needs children
(has an identical twin) who is mentally around two and a half...)
Here's a portion...............
Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey (a poem by William Wordsworth)
......For I have learned
To look on nature, not as in the hour
Of thoughtless youth; but hearing oftentimes
The still sad music of humanity,
Nor harsh nor grating, though of ample power
To chasten and subdue. And I have felt
A presence that disturbs me with the joy
Of elevated thoughts; a sense sublime
Of something far more deeply interfused,
Whose dwelling is the light of setting suns,
And the round ocean and the living air,
And the blue sky, and in the mind of man:
A motion and a spirit, that impels
All thinking things, all objects of all thought,
And rolls through all things. Therefore am I still
A lover of the meadows and the woods,
And mountains; and of all that we behold
From this green earth; of all the mighty world
Of eye, and ear both what they half create,
And what perceive; well pleased to recognize
In nature and the language of the sense
The anchor of my purest thoughts, the nurse,
The guide, the guardian of my heart, and soul
Of all my moral being.

You have a DVD of the Fox presentation?
Great eulogy by the President. Brian Mulroney was fantastic. The former President Bush getting choked up about how much he learned serving under President Reagan. Seeing and hearing from Margaret Thatcher was tremendous. The beautiful singing.
God bless you Ronnie.
I've never seen its equal and doubt I ever will.
Thank you for putting this thread up for us all
That's the music I want to find as well.
When will this be replayed on CSPAN?
ABC? Is that a network? My tuner doesn't go there anymore
Hug and/or a hearty handshake. Very moving service. Reagan as example. That's a good part of what funerals are for. But more important, and present at today's proceeding, an acknowledgement of purpose from a higher power. As a Christian, I was elated to hear a Christian service for President Reagan.
What happened?
Indeed, Big'ol just downloaded a clip. An utterly perfect selection for the occasion.
When is the internment again?
There never will be crying in heaven, but for me, it is hard to imagine how I won't when I see Nancy and Ron, hand in hand, kneeling before the Throne in adoration...some of the most powerful love of two people ever being shared magnified to an infinite degree as it is given to the King.
I don't know how I won't cry then.
But....all tears will be wiped away, so I won't. How I won't cry seeing that amazing scene, I don't know.
See you soon Ronald Wilson Reagan....I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait.
Peace.
Mr. Bush was in top form, I'd say.
I do not buy that tired old bromide.
It's if I close my eyes, you are invisible.
Or, whatever works for you is OK.
That is the libreal fallacy - diversity and whatnot.
Same here... I couldn't imagine trying to sit in the public's eye and try to hold it together the way the family did.
How nice!
Thank you for posting those words. Lovely.
Isn't it though? Absolutely gorgeous, heartrending.
