He's really on a roll with this press conference, isn't he? This is the George W. Bush we know and love.
And he's doing a great press smackdown while he's doing it.

I'm taking a bit of a break from the news today, the last few have been pretty rough. Baseball for me today, and we're winning.

I just posted in another thread that G8 must have gone well. GWB is almost giddy with the press-persons.
He's even slapped a few who asked the typically-redundant and dumb questions.

Wish I could watch. This sounds like the old, "unhandled", President Bush that people have been longing for.

I wish he wouldn't laugh at his own jokes. A minor thing, I know. He is very confident today.

Too bad GWB didn't give this level/flare of press conference at the evening broadcast one a couple of months ago.

Yes, the President is doing very well. He appears, to me, to be tired; he has been working very hard at the summit conference and has been under great stress. He has also been very successful. He should not be subjected to interrogation by hostile "reporters" seeking to trip him up and distort his words. Most of the "reporters" are predictably obnoxious, their attitudes odious. These the President dispatches expertly--as he should.

Yep. I wanted to slap a couple of the press, and GWB did verbally.
Lets see more of this.

MY GOD, I came running to computer
to see if everyone else witnessed what I saw!
YES! He commanded that Q and A with confidence
humor and such a directness that reminded it me of
President Reagan. I mean that seriously.
I am so HAPPY and proud and pleased with President
Bush.

I watched part of this. President Bush was a riot! I saw the Gregory smackdown. He also said something when he was calling his next reporter. Something like "I have some mandatory ones here, some of you I have to live with and some of you I don't" as he pointed to someone trying to ask a question. Classic.

This was exactly like he was a week or two ago when the new Iraqi Govt. was announced. I thought at the time that he looked much more confident and upbeat.
At the time (and again today) I can't help wondering if he knows something we don't yet. Maybe news on WMD? Bin Laden? Internal Polls? I don't know but something has changed to dramatically increase his confidence and mood.

I also liked his respone to the British? reporter who was going after the torture question - again saying it wasn't very comforting that Bush said to persue questioning within the Law. The Reporter commented that bush's response wasn't comforting because it wasn't a legal question it was a moral one.
GWB then proceeded to say well let me be more clear (if I can) it should be of comfort that we follow the law.
He he he
