Dead Syrians sent home about a week after the accident.
While the train explosion at Ryongchon station, N. Pyongan Province, N. Korea, on 22nd of last April, still generates many speculations on its possible causes, including a failed assassination of Kim Jong-il, a freak accident, a staged accident by N. Koreans, it is now confirmed that there were many Syrians among the casualties of the explosion.
According to a knowledgeable intelligence source on N. Korean matters, about a week after the accident, on May 1st, a plane transported back to Syria 10 dead bodies of Syrians killed at the Ryongchon explosion.
The source stated that the plane came to bring the relief supply from Syria and returned with the bodies. The bodies were claimed by Syrian Technical Research Center(Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche Scientific: CERS). CERS is known to be into the development of Syrian WMD's.
It went on to say that Syrians were wearing protective suits at the time of the accident and in the middle of transporting a large packaged equipments. At the explosion, a lot of N. Korean Scud-D missiles and (rocket) propellant went off.
Another N. Korean expert, who wants to remain anonymous, explained that Syrians were there because:
As more details like these on N. Korean trafficking of WMD's emerge, what this revelation will lead to is a matter of great interest because American government is expected to take extraordinary measures on N. Korea in a few months.
The Syrian connection to Ryongchon explosion was briefly reported by Sankei Shimbun of Japan on May 7th. It was never covered in (major) domestic media, though. Syria is designated along with N. Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism, and has been a trafficker of world's WMD's and terrorist equipments.

This was reported here on FR a few weeks ago. The train collision occured in a warehouse at the end of a spur.
Guess I gotta go find it for you.BRB
I would sure like to think the CIA had the capability to do such a job.
But I don't.
Maybe the Israelis?
that would give us reason to cheer for a change. when the people talk about our intellegence agencies, too much happens in secret for the unwashed (that's me)to KNOW the truth to be certain they are effective
I'm not a betting man...but if I was, I'd bet that our intelligence agencies are VERY effective.
IF they did: BRAVO ZULU! Keep up the good work!
ditto
Here are good pictures http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/dprk/ryongchon-imagery.htm from the area
INTERFERENCE OF GPS NAVIGATIONAL SIGNAL CHERRY POINT, NCThe GPS Navigational Signal may be unreliable or unavailable due to interference testing on the frequencies of M1575 and M1227 used in shipboard navigation and handheld systems. This area included the Intracoastal Waterways in North Carolina, including Albemarle Sound, Pamlico Sound, and Coastal North Carolina from Currituck Beach Light to Cape Lookout.
Interference Testing will be conducted on the following dates:

20 June 2004More information is available at the Coast Guard Navigation Center Web-Site www.navcen.uscg.gov and the Navigation Center Mirror Site www.navcenter.org. GPS users are encouraged to report any service outages that they may be experiencing during this testing via the Navigation Information Service (NIS) by calling (703) 313-5900 or by using the NAVCENs web-sites GPS Report a Problem Worksheet.
This link gives more information, including times. This link shows the affected area.
This isn't a "GPS thing," it's a local disruption due to other stuff.
No need -- I found it for you. They're not "taking down GPS."
This may be the most interesting/new part of this article.
He has been seen since the accident. Remember, we don't see much of him anyway.
The Syrian connection was pretty thoroughy discussed at the time of the explosion.
Syrian hamsters probably went Fubar during their instructional period.
When I said it was going to be down I should have said unrliable.:__________________________________________________Anybody seen this yet?
N.C. Boaters Urged Not To Use GPS This Weekend
POSTED: 4:58 pm EDT June 9, 2004
PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- Boaters will be unable to rely on Global Positioning System equipment and possibly cell phones because of scheduled disruptions from Friday to Sunday that will affect mariners transiting the waters of North Carolina and parts of Florida.
GPS interference testing conducted during an exercise by the Department of Defense will make the GPS signal unreliable and may affect cell phone signals from about 50 to 60 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras, N.C., and approximately 80 miles out between Jacksonville and Melbourne, Fla.
Disruptions along the North Carolina Coast will affect Albemarle Sound, Pamlico Sound and the Coastal North Carolina area from Currituck Beach Light to Cape Lookout and the IntraCoastal Waterways of North Carolina.
"The Coast Guard fully supports the efforts of the Department of Defense during this important exercise," said Rear Admiral Sally Brice-O'Hara, commander of the Fifth Coast Guard District. "But, we must get the word out to impacted mariners so they can take the necessary precautions to keep themselves safe during this busy boating season."
Mariners should not rely on GPS nor cell phones from June 11 to 20. Plan ahead and use VHF radios to communicate on the water. A cell phone is a good backup communications device, but out on the open water, it is no substitute for a VHF radio

Thanks for sharing on one of the internet's most highly visited/lurked sites.
"the sabotage of missile cargos"
I think this was the goal.
Are you saying you think Syria was in NK to get the bio/chem stuff ..?? I think it's the other way around. I think Syria was there to deliver what they SOLD .. THE IRAQ BI0/CHEM stuff .. and the reason would be that Syria would sell the stuff to SUPPORT THE TERRORIST GROUPS.
I don't have any evidence to support that .. it's just my opinion.

I used to work in the very room where that phone number would ring. The USCG only handles the DGPS portion of GPS. DGPS is sort of like localized GPS upgrades using small local transmitters, for improved precision and repeatability. Scheduled localized outages for testing and maintenance are not uncommon, nothing to see here, move along.
LOL!!!! An actual, real, and appropriate use of the term!
