Louisiana Governor Proclaims Day of Mourning in Honor of Reagan

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan, the fortieth President of the United States, will be remembered as one of our most popular and beloved presidents; and

WHEREAS, we are blessed to live in a Nation, and a world, that have been shaped by his leadership, vision and will; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan, who departed this life on June 5, 2004, left the United States a stronger and better Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, Governor of the state of Louisiana, do hereby proclaim Friday, June 11, 2004, as

A DAY OF MOURNING IN LOUISIANA FOR PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN

and call upon the people of Louisiana to pay appropriate homage to the memory and legacy of Ronald Reagan.

I FURTHER ORDER that all flags on State buildings be immediately displayed at half-staff through July 3, 2004, and shall be raised to full staff on the morning of July 4.

In Witness Thereof, I have hereunto set my hand officially and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Louisiana, at the Capitol, in the City of Baton Rouge, on this the 8th day of June A.D., 2004

That being said, she is showing some class here, but how great would it have been to have a true Reaganite, Bobby Jindal, in the Governor's mansion this week?

Nope. I happened to be in a Louisiana state office building two days ago, at precisely the time when the governor's memo to all state offices was being distributed. The employees were all annoyed that no closures were announced. Not because they loved Reagan and wished to see him properly honored, mind you. They were just hoping for a long weekend.

Gov Rick Perry of Texas did the same yesterday, so Im off Friday.

At the coffee machine this am a woman was whining about the Reagan stuff being overblown.

I resisted the urge to speak freely, and just said I disagree, He was a great man. then walked away.

When Congress passed a ceremonial resolution a few years ago, to simply wish Ronald Reagan a happy 90th birthday(!!!) Waters was one of only four Congresspeople who voted "NO"!

What!!! This hateful race bater will rot in hell!
