Right after Fox cut away. It was just minutes after Mrs. Reagan had left the building. Thatcher was escorted by Frist, I think she may have been the first dignitary escorted to the casket. Then came Mulroney, and loads of other "old faces": Haig, Meese, Schultz, Quayle, one of Nixon's daughters, Cheneys daughters, lots of staffers (Peggy Noonan), then after that they let the Congressmen and Senators file through.

I just got back from the rotunda. Absolutely amazing, emotional, touching, etc. and worth every minute of the 4 hours that I waited. I was very lucky to hit the changing of the guards at 6am this morning. They allowed a certain number of people in and we were allowed to stand around and watch for about 10 minutes.
I was also there for the suspicious package. Not at all what the news reports are saying. An asian guy looking very much like an tourist was taking pictures and then left his backpack. My friends are I were standing over it not realizing that it had been abandoned and the police suddenly separated the crowds. Luckily we rushed to the other side so we continued to keep going on the track to the rotunda.
I hope this makes sense. I just pulled an all nighter but I'm glad I did.

Doctor, what time did you get in line?
To: don-o
No, didn't see Kerry. But Daschle looked "deeply saddened."

I got in line at 2am. It wasn't that bad but we were lucky to get on the right side of the separation. A total of 4 hours. The lines looked to be better around 3:30am but I'm not sure if that'll be the case tomorrow night. You're always moving so being in line wasn't all that bad but now my legs are tired.
If anyone is still planning on going you can bring cameras and then check them before going through the last checkpoint and then you'll pick them up on your way out. I didn't bring my camera but my phone had a camera so I had to check that. No problems and I was able to get it when I got out. Do not bring anything that is cream or sprays or anything. Got in trouble because I forgot I had hand cream in my purse.

Did anyone see the former First Lady, who is also a senator, there (I can't say the name)? She should have been, but since Bubba isn't going to speak, maybe she is in a snit.

She, "who must not be named", was no where in the crowd. Neither was the "big lib" from Massachusetts. I didn't see Gephardt either.
Maybe they were there, but didn't see them. I noticed most of the Cabinet members, plus SCOTUS members.

As a dedicated Fox fan I found myself switching to MSNBC and by the time of the Rotunda service I was at MSNBC full time. Their coverage was good, they had most of their facts straight and for the most part they knew when to be quiet.
That Fox broke away for OReilly was totally uncalled for. He was not doing funeral coverage just his usual carping. A state funeral of a two term president calls for wall to wall coverage. If someone's ego gets bruised, tell him to grow up!

I'm a suit, and I've just finished standing in line for 3.5 hours. The lines now are actually shorter than they were at 4am.

Thatcher? She was first after the family. Classy gesture out of Mrs. Reagan, if you ask me.
