France Doesn't Believe Paris Was Militants' Target

PARIS (Reuters) - Information gathered on a group of suspected Islamic militants arrested in Italy and Belgium does not show they were planning an attack in Paris, the French Interior Ministry said Wednesday.

"One cannot draw from this information any indication about the preparation of a possible attack in Paris," a spokesman for the Interior Ministry said.

An Italian detention warrant seen by Reuters included transcribed telephone conversations in which the suspects discussed the Paris metro, security arrangements and a "martyr" referred to as Mohammed.

"Nothing, at this stage of the investigation, is a sign of a planned attack in Paris or in France," a French police source told Reuters.

"Searches carried out (in France) on the basis of information relayed by the Belgian investigators have not allowed a potential attack target to be identified," the source added.

Italian police late Monday arrested Rabei Osman Sayed Ahmed, known as "Mohamed the Egyptian" and suspected of playing a lead role in the Madrid train bombings that killed 191 people in March. Police also arrested a second man as part of the raid.

Belgian police, acting on information from Italy, then arrested 15 people they said were preparing for an attack.

The warrant, used to detain Ahmed and the other suspect in Milan, quotes members of the group as saying they planned a rehearsal of an attack in Paris using mobile phone technology. The Milan prosecutor's office said the method was similar to that used in the Madrid bombings

I wonder if they really know terrorism can happen even to appeasers - or if this is just their public posturing?

Must be another Paris, the one in Maine perhaps.

Paris, Texas, yes, that's it, that's the ticket.

It must be fun to be as delusional as the French are. They're even deluding themselves that they're a world power of any significance whatsoever.

I've said it before - posturing is part and parcel of French public life. Witness how they are posturing as a world power, linguistically, economically and militarily, even though claims to these on their part are laughable at best.

It looks like 'denial' is a river in France, as well as Egypt.

Yes, and Kerry hasn't really explained what they would be doing. It's not like they have troops to send. They're broke. So what do we get?

France Doesn't Believe Paris Was Militants' Target

In other news... An unnamed French leader was found cowering in the corner of his office with his hands over his ears, saying "la, la, la, I can't hear you, la, la, la." Other French officials were unavailable for comment as they were all attending a self-esteem workshop where they were told that really were smart and special, and that other people really liked them, even if they didn't always show it.

Im still trying to understand what makes France a "World Power". The only thing they have is a vote on the UN security council. When three or more European countries stand up and defy France, and stick to it, I believe France would become officially irrelevant..
