For those who were unable to watch the coverage from Point Mugu Naval Air Station this morning as President Reagan and his family left California for Washington, former First Lady Nancy Reagan did something incredibly gracious and moving. She is, after all, an 82-year-old going through an extraordinarily difficult time. Everyone would have understood if she took one of the easier methods of boarding the plane.
Yet she chose to walk up that long flight of stairs. Then, when she got to the top, she turned and waved to the crowd. The crowd spontaneously broke out in very warm applause. (That's a major general escorting Mrs. Reagan. Look at the awe on his face.)
The purpose of this thread is to give all FReepers those of us who are Ronald Reagan's foot soldiers for life our warmest expressions of love, support and gratitude. I am going to the RWR library on Sunday and will personally hand-deliver a printout of this thread to them. All tributes received by the library are being saved for later presentation to Mrs. Reagan.

It is YOUR strength that has brought us through this, we are so proud of you.
In my mind's eye, as I watched her turn around and wave, I saw her Ronnie standing there with her, holding her hand instead of the general. Even the voices of the TV announcers sounded awestruck and moved.
Ronald Reagan still standing beside Nancy. This is how I saw it on June 9th, 2004.
At this time of sorrow, I hope you can rejoice in the feeling of gratitude and respect felt by me and my fellow countrymen for President Reagan.
God Bless you all.
Lynden
I am so thankful for your determination to take such great care of President Ronald Reagan, your husband and the love of your life. As we all look back over all those years of your care and love for him; there are not words to express our heartfelt thanks to you.
You can count yourself as one of our truly great American. You too will go down in history with great fondness and love. We Americans Love you. May God Bless you always.
God Bless You, Nancy.
I thought a printout of this read would give people who can't make it to Simi Valley or DC a way to tangibly participate, because it will be delivered to the library to take its place among all the other things the general public has brought there.
As sad as I am that this great man died, I am overjoyed that he lived. Mrs. Reagan, thank you for making his life worth living, in such a personal way. Thank you for sharing him with this wonderful nation, the world and a greatful people.
God's blessings to you and those you love.
Very fitting photo, FTD. Thank you for adding it to the thread.
Tribute ping.
Dear Mrs Reagan,
May God bless you and your remarkable husband for proving the power of faith, love and fidelity against an ungodly, hateful and fickle world.
He will rest in peace. May you rest easy in that knowledge and remain hopeful for your joyful reunion.
Sincerely,
A Proud American
Mrs. Reagan, we thank you for the grace and dignity you have demonstrated to all Americans and peoples around the world throughout your public life. Through your guidance, you have shown us how to serve, to lead, to love, to protect, to comfort, and to mourn.
Thank you for sharing Ronald Reagan with this nation and with the world. His unique gifts have changed the history of mankind, and his lifelong commitment to family, neighborhood, work, peace, and freedom will be remembered for ages in American history.
You shared a lifetime with a wonderful partner. As much as he meant to you, I am sure that you know how much he meant to us. Thank you for sharing him with us.
We are saying prayers for his soul and for you and your family. The president knew well that he could never have changed the world without the strength you gave him. You were always there every step of the way. My family and I are grateful to both of you. That gratitude is immeasurable.
May the prayers and outpouring of love from around the world help sustain you. And may you know that someday you will join him again and touch the face of God.
Thanks, Howlin. Please consider adding your own comments.
Thank you for this thread.
Thank you Mrs. Reagan for sharing your husband one final time with all of us!
When you waved to the crowd at Point Magu, your face lit up and it brought back wonderful memories of the many times the two of you turned and waved at the top of the steps.
God Bless and keep you in the days ahead.
Thanks, Doug.
Thanks, PKM. I don't know a more hard-working Reaganite foot soldier than you.
