Thank you much for this post. Until Gingrich referenced this debate in an interview, I had no idea that Reagan had debated RFK. This makes for a great read.

I'll have to read this carefully. With a quick look, I've seen Reagan handle the questions (and the questioners) beautifully. And I've seen Kennedy dodge and weave and do a remarkably poor job.
It really burns me that the Left worships the Kennedys and criticizes Reagan as a fool. The Man was head and shoulders above that family of losers.

Reagan was a genial nice guy without much upstairs? Bah! Read the transcript. I saw a replay of a debate between Reagan and William F. Buckley concerning the Panama Canal re-aired on TV several years back. Here's this Governor of California debating a foreign policy issue and had a amazing handle of all the facts and people involved. Reagan was more than just a good orator, he was sharp as a tack and was incredibly informed. Reagan more than held his own against Buckley and of course Reagan was on the right side of the issue.
