Removal of Cross from County Seal Brings Lawsuit

CNSNews.com) - A Los Angeles County employee is suing the county in an effort to prevent officials from removing a cross from the county's seal. Removing the cross sends a "government-sponsored message of hostility towards Christians," Ernesto Vasquez' lawsuit says.

The Thomas More Law Center, which is representing Vasquez, filed the lawsuit Friday in federal district court in Los Angeles.

"California has become a battleground for anti-Christian forces," said Attorney Charles LiMandri, director of the Law Center's West Coast regional office.

"Whether it be same-sex marriage, the removal of 'under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance, or now the removal of a small cross from the LA County seal, the impact is the same: the de-Christianizing of our society." Li Mandri said the Thomas More Law Center is "committed to fighting this battle," both in California and elsewhere in the country.

The Law Center says Los Angeles County supervisors "caved in" to a demand made by the American Civil Liberties Union, which threatened to sue the County if it did not remove the cross from the seal.

"LA County decided to remove the cross and offend Christians rather than fight the ACLU," the Law Center said in a press release.

Hit 'em in the funnybone Mr Vasquez, I wish you the best of fortune but we all know that Christians are not a protected minority. They are considered like cattle for slaughter in the justice system.

I hope it sticks and they have to pay up a million pesos and return the X

Man's sins put Christ in the cross to begin with. Evil doers want to remove the method of mans salvation from all of history.

This is as Satanic as it comes.

The Mission system was integral to the early founding and settlement of California. To remove that cross from the Los Angeles city seal, is to deny the history of our region, to rewrite the underpinnings of California's heritage.

It's time to declare open warfare on the ACLU. They should be run out of our nation on a rail, after being tarred and feathered, spayed or neutered.

I wonder why the ACLU has never been tried for a hate crime? Its obvious that they have a serious hatred of anything involving Christianity.

The wrap themselves in the constitution. Also, religion is very unpopular in secular society today. It's the one group that open season has been declared on.

ACLUsers next target-Riverside, CA

The unique City Raincross Symbol is derived from combining a replica of the mass bell used by Father Junipero Serra, missionary priest and founder of the California Missions, and the cross to which the Navajo and Central American Indians prayed for rain. The "Raincross" is used extensively throughout Riverside in its architecture and is on the City flag.

The Supes are looking to replace the cross with a depiction of a California Mission, sans cross. An aide to Sup. Mike Antonovich said that a Mission without a cross will look like a Taco Bell.
