Hello Everyone,
So, how is everyone's summer so far? I hope you're enjoying the most beautiful country in the world!!! Things are going very well over here. All of our civil affairs projects have made a huge impact on the town of Nukhayb, which we are responsible for. They all just love us down there.
Yesterday, I took a trip to another small town down South and met with the town leaders in order to set up some civil affairs projects. We also handed out soccer balls, school supplies, and loads of candy. As you can imagine, the kids LOVED it.
The picture attached is of my buddy Dan and I with some Iraqi Police. They were great guys and loved the fact that I knew a little Arabic.
Other than that, it's getting really hot these days. Two days ago I went running at about 4:30 in the afternoon, and it was the hottest run of my life. It wasn't until later that I found out it was 118 degrees F - IN THE SHADE! Suffice it to say, we are all altering our P.T. schedules.
The >snip for personal religion< services continue to go well as the word spreads around the base. Thanks for everyone's support with that.
For those of you asking about the daily life around here, I'll give you a little glimpse. The officers' sleeping area is air conditioned. There is no indoor plumbing, but we do have shower trailers, that are actually fairly nice. The toilets are 'Port-A-Johns,' that do not smell very good at all. The chowhall is air conditioned, but runs low on food and drinks every once in a while. The gym has lost generator power. So, we get the experience of a sauna along with working out. That's about it for now. Again, thanks for your support and I would love to hear from all of you soon.
God Bless and Semper Fidelis!
Love,
Rob
Many thanks,
makes me happy.
Great news bump!
Bump for a real American Hero!
Thanks, Keith. Prayers for Rob and his buddies. It's so good to hear what is actually happening in Iraq. -- E
Great picture! I hope you and your fellow soldiers stay safe, and send us more pictures!
Does anyone know if we are, or plan to equip the Iraqi forces with Kevlar?..or is it that we worry the bad guys will end up with the stuff?
Great post and pic. Thanks!
Rob,
The trees in Northern New England are full of green leaves. The grass is growing about 3 inches/day. The girls are showing up at all of the beaches and guess what? ... They ALL can't wait to meet soldiers coming back from Iraq!!! :) You guys are the best!
Awesome! Simply awesome! America's best!
Nice to get some real news about what is going on in Iraq. God Bless all the guys over there who sacrifice so much on our behalf.
Do you have a ping list for these? I'd love to be on it!
Thanks for the ping, Coop. (^:

Soon the media won't be able to hide it any longer. We're doing a LOT of good over there and there ARE people who appreciate it.
Thanks for a ray of sunshine today!
