A Note from the Butcher of Sacred Cow Burgers [Prayer Request]

This isn't a notification of a new parody, but I felt this was a necessary note to send all the same. The long and short of it is this: I will be unavailable over the coming weeks and figured I should let you folks know why.

A little over eight weeks ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer; a type that affects only 3 people in 1 million. This type of cancer does not respond to chemotherapy, so the only treatment is surgery.

I will be hospitalized starting June 10th to have the largest (and hopefully *only*) tumor removed. Due to the location of the tumor, the doctors are pretty much going to have to open me up like a raw fish.

Understandably, I will be out of action for some time afterward. According to my surgeon, recovery will take six weeks at minimum. But -- with luck and the Good Lord's patient help -- I may be back at making merry sooner than anyone can guess.

I'd like to take this time to thank all of you for your interest in my work and the critiques, compliments and suggestions that many of you have sent my way over these past months. It's your enthusiasm that keeps me jazzed about doing political parody every chance I get. Your candor is a gift that I value greatly.

Best wishes to you all. I'll be back in touch once I'm able. Until then, I'll be fighting the good fight...just on a smaller scale.

The Holy Face of Jesus is a picture taken from the Shroud of Turin. I don't know the exact process but I think they took a negative from the Shroud and reproduced it as a positive. The reproduction was quite remarkable.

It is Catholic oriented as you will see from the devotionals, but I think any Christian who believes in the Shroud or is at least willing to try will benefit. A picture can be mailed to anyone for a few dollars or printed out for free if you have a good printer. I was given a small leaflet with a photograph recently and I have been praying with it over the past week for my own personal healing. I meditate on the Holy Face as I pray. I have already experienced significant improvement physically and spiritually.

An interesting thing about the Shroud which some people may not know, imbedded in the left corner of the moustache is Ex 314 = Exodus 3:14 "I am that I am" (paraphrasing). If you look at the face upside down you will see a light image of a chalice, the chalice of the saving Precious Blood. All in all, a very powerful instrument of healing in whatever manner God wills.
