Reporters who regularly slammed Ronald Reagan while he was president are quietly seething now that they're forced to mouth platitudes about the man's greatness, former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan said Sunday night.
"[Journalists] are willing, over the next few days, to concede what is so obvious that they have to concede it - his personal goodness, etc.," Noonan told Matt Drudge on his radio show.
But with a solid week of commemorations for the conservative icon still ahead, liberal reporters will barely be able to contain themselves, she predicted.
"I'll bet they start pulling a few political [stunts] - kind of letting their biases out a little bit more. And I'll tell you, there's going to be an explosion next weekend [after Reagan is buried].
"That will mean that the elite journalistic media will have gone through seven days of talking kindly about Reagan," said Noonan. "I would say that by next Friday night, they're going to blow."
I think your question deserves it's own thread. Please Freepmail me if you do that.
The passing of the 20th Century's best President and the 60th Anniversary of D-day. All and all, a real bad weekend for the RAT media.
Fishtalk...thanks for your posts. You've come SUCH a very long way! The scales fell from your eyes, thankfully, and you've come into the light.Welcome home. :-)
Once upon a time, not all that long ago, without talk radio,FNC,and the net, getting the truth out there, was a feat of Herculean magnitude!Generations of people could be hoodwinked;now that more difficult. But all of us still have a job...removing the blinders from those who still refuse to see.
We're working on this idea now. I probably have some "I Miss President Reagan" buttons in a box somewhere. I'll let everyone know if I can get some made in time.
Dan Ratherbiased can choke on his fake tears.
Dan's daughter is a fundraiser for the Texas Democrat Party, as I understand it, and there is no affinity between Rather and Reagan other than the fact that both their names start with an "R."
So, what you're saying is that he's wearing mohair on his pate?
LOL, she knows them really well.
As I recall, sauropod, old Sammy boy was doing some kind of a scandalous story on all the ways bad Americans make money. Sam found out a terrific way to make money the way the bad Americans make money by buying a mohair ranch in New Mexico. He gets a subsidy from the U.S. Government for not producing mohair.
There was another story about him buying a jojoba ranch somewhere. Another U.S. Government subsidy.
Isn't there a limit on the number of times a news anchor can attempt to reenact the 1963 Cronkite moment? I think Rather has exceeded his allotment.
Save your crocodile tears Dan!
They already blow.
So9
I can already tell you one who isn't worth watching any more - although with even a modicum of intellect you would have already known this - (P)MSNBC. The day after his death they trotted out this memoriam that somehow highlighted Iran-Contra above everything. No wonder the cellar-dwellers of the ratings race NEVER GET IT.
Probably just a touch of gas;)
Right! Why don't these newly-minted "friends" of President Reagan support our current President, who is fighting an enemy that is the direct successor of Soviet Communism in terms of seeking to undermine the West and destroy America?
I voted for Reagan in every election in which he ran.
: )
Just 1 heart attack from the libs would make my week complete! Someone is bound to explode their blood pressure over the ongoing hypocrasy they have to display this week - who will it be? If I had to pick, someone like Kennedy, Byrd or Leahy (old, decrepit and ready to pop)
Shepard Smith (besides being an incompetent boob) is a snide little man.
