More than 100,000 people are expected to pay their respects to former President Ronald Reagan, the U.S. Capitol Police said Sunday.

Reagan's body will arrive at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday evening. Following a state funeral service, the 40th president will lie in state around the clock for 24 hours.
Capitol Police Chief Terence Gainer said vacations have been canceled for all officers.
"We want to make it very easy for the public to come and have an opportunity to pay their last respects to the president," Gainer told WRC-TV.
Gainer said the force will soon issue directives on what people can and can not bring to the viewing. Cameras will be forbidden and backpacks and other bags will be strongly discouraged, he said.
All those wishing to view the former president's body will have to pass through metal detectors and will be subject to search.
The last president to lie in state at the Capitol was Lyndon Johnson, in 1973.

Thanks for the post with the info on date and times. I'm trying to figure an appropriate 'window' to try and drive up to DC from Charlottesville VA to pay my respects.
Hmmmmmm........if its for 24 hours straight starting Wednesday evening the best time might be late Wednesday night; I should get a room.

We were thinking of coming up Thursday, but late Wednesday night may be better for us, too. Either way, we will be there.

Over 100,000? They may want to add another "0" to that estimate.

100,000?
Someone is low-balling the estimate.
To: Rebelbase
leftists have no shame, being "above it all". their "cause" is holy to them, and excuses any immorality...the ends justifying the means and all....
i will not be surprised if they protest....then they will turn around and claim that we politicized the event.
much the same way they say we politicized wellstone's funeral.

If all they're counting is the number of people who will actually get to view the former president, they may be correct. 24 hours = 86,400 seconds. You could get 100,000 people past him in that amount of time, but even if you split them into two lines, one on each side, each one would have less than two seconds -- it would essentially be a constantly moving procession. And you
know that some will take longer than two seconds to pass by.
On the other hand, I strongly suspect that there will be more than 100,000 trying to attend.

Charlottesville bump. I'd love to take the kids up to witness this. They've heard hubby and I extol the virtues of Ronaldus Maximus their entire lives and have grown up to be true Reagan supporters, too. God rest his soul.

indeed, a little more then 100K people saw Babe Ruth. So for sure, they could not accomodate anything much larger then that.
