Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass: "On foreign policy he will be honored as the president who won the Cold War, and his 'Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall' will be linked forever with President Kennedy's 'Ich bin ein Berliner.' President Reagan and Nancy were always very gracious to the Kennedy family and they are both very much in our thoughts and prayers in this difficult time."

Reagan praising and the inevitable comparisons to the sitting president.
God Bless President Ronald Reagan, thank God he was placed in our lives. Reagan raised our spirits and made us proud again.
.
REAGAN won the COLD WAR.
BUSH is winning the FREEDOM War.
.
Clinton memorable line: "It depends what the meaning of is, is."
I can hear the DUers now wailing Teddy sellout!
Most lefties don't mention Reagan winning the cold war. That's not surprisiing since they were rooting for the other side anyway.
DUers are expressing the leftists' true views on Reagan, even in death, unfettered by any political considerations that constrain Kerry, Kennedy, and their ilk.
Yeah Ted, no thanks to you or most of your corrupt decadent party.
Mrs. Lewinsky is Monica's mother. You probably mean Miss Lewinsky, which is what Clinton said. Unless you know something we don't. ;-)
Good catch in deciphering Ted's carefully chosen (for a change)words ("will be honored for," rather than: he won). English, what a marvelous language for its nuances.
I remember that obsequious gesture. Imagine, a virtual apology for our "warmonger" president proffered by the Demonrats along with assurances that they will thwart his efforts to oppose (actully defeat) the USSR. But too typical.
Interesting. Thanks for posting the photo of you and Ted.
Well, well, apparently Fat Teddy can have rare moments of decency.
Impressive.
What's even more pleasantly shocking are the statements from Daschle and Pelosi.
&&
And you can bet that it's only because even they know better to attack such a larger-than-life, beloved figure.
Reagan's death makes me think how the nation will react to Carter and Clinton's future passing. I can't see the nationwide love for these two being ANYTHING like what Reagan's about to get.
May God bless Ronald and his family!
what is the protocol for state funerals? Did other past presidents get them?
I think Reagan will be unique. With the possible exception of FDR and Johnson, I don't think we've had Presidents whose time in office mattered so much and I think Reagan mattered more than all the rest since he left the country better off than when he was born. Sometimes we wonder what our purpose here is on this Earth and now and then we find ties of blood matter less than ties of love. If we loved strangers like we loved our President, perhaps the world would be a more hospitable and loving place.
