As you are all aware, President Ronald Wilson Reagan has passed away. He is now at rest, after a decade long struggle. I'm sure many of you will join me in wanting to participate in a vigil or the attendence of the funeral.
Although plans are not firm yet, we will be taking part in several activities over the next four or five days. If you would like to be kept informed of these events, please respond on this thread.
I will be sending out notices of plans as they develop.
We're in Reagan's home state. Let's represent Free Republic and the Free Republic Network well, for those who cannot travel here from the midwest or the east.

Please put me on your list. The Library will be a long way to go, and perhaps impossible due to child care duties, but if at all possible we would be honored to pay tribute publicly to this great man.

My clan and I will be someplace on Monday, between Santa Monica and the Library, and Wednesday (or whatever day he will be in state) at the Library.
I heard about that. He will be lying in repose and the flag-draped casket will be available to the public on Monday for visitors to view. I'd like to go as well, but am concerned it may not be appropriate to bring baby. We were just at the library 2 weeks ago... I hate the finality of this.
Me too, but his mark on history is is an important part of American History now, it makes us proud IMHO.

Amen. I couldn't be prouder that I was able to show my 13 year old his Library, and teach her just a little about the Man who taught me so much. Because of that day, she understands the impact This Day will have on our History now.

Boy, did you take that wrong - meant no insult. I was asking for clarification in reference to your statement above.
There are tens of thousands of people who participate on this forum. Only a very small fraction of our group will be able to attend services or candle-light vigils in California. I have asked that our locals respond to represent the group as a whole.
We are thinking of holding candles with other like minded people, attending the funeral and taking some pictures to share with others who could not attend.
How do any of these plans indicate to you that we'll be promoting FR or the FRN at these events?
No, my nuckles don't drag the ground when I walk, but thanks for asking.
Within the next 30 minutes to one hour, I will be posting our plans for attending Reagan related events during the next few days.

He will be in state for 30 hours starting noon tomorrow. I could attend Tuesday if I brought my kids. I don't see a way to attend tomorrow with our schedule.
