Had he died an hour earlier, I would have been cleaning fish.

I had just returned home -- from the Free Republic Activism Seminar -- and turned on the TV. I gasped and then my eyes started to tear up.

I was freeping...been glued to the computer and TV all day.

Very sad day. But it is good to see Reagan getting credit for his Cold War victory. Even Democrats are talking about it.

I was in my office at home, Freeping as usual.

Although today is a sad day, it gives a whole new generation of people a chance to learn for the first time what Reagan was all about.

I head a grown woman on C-Span saying she never knew what a great man he was. Welcome from those who always did madam.

I was having a catch in my backyard with my 10 year old, in a land that was secured and strengthened by that man, President Ronald Reagan. May he rest in peace until we all meet on heavens bright shore.

I was on FreeRepublic. I remember driving home and hearing on the radio that his family had joined his side, and they were giving him "weeks, maybe months" to live. I knew that he wouldn't last much longer if the family was coming in to join his side.

I was shocked that it happened so soon, though. God bless you, Mr. Reagan!

I was getting into a car, turned on the radio, and a news flash broke the story.

I learned from an email message from my cousin this afternoon.

I still remember vividly where I was when I heard Reagan was shot. I was a boy playing in my front yard. I remember feeling a bit dismayed. My teenage neighbor friend said, "Good." That's how most kids are raised in the People's Republic of MN.

I was watching FOX News the moment it was announced. They had just had on several people during the hour before to talk about Reagan since he had taken ill.

I also remember exactly where I was when I hear that he was shot. I was in the third grade and attending my Cub Scout meeting after school when our Den Mother announced it to us.

I was rebuilding an antique bench in my garage.
My newly turned republican sister in Arizona called and told me.
I read and posted on a thread this am about his declining health.
I just new it would be soon, Ronald Reagan is now in a better place.

I have disagreed with those in government.... But just to keep the record straight,
let me make plain my criticism is not directed against this system of ours,
which is unique in all the world. I criticize those I believe are turning away
from and repudiating the very principles which brought us greatness,
eroding individual freedom, robbing us of independence
and the right to control our own destiny."

I love Reagan, but to me, Reagan "died" the day he announced he had Alzheimer's and never made another public appearance. His spirit was trapped for years in motionless shell, with no intellectual self-awareness. So I think it a poor comparison to JFK's assassination, or to someting like 9/11. To be fair, even though people didn't know about JFK's Addison's, Kennedy was in the prime of life and killed instantly; Reagan was at the age that most of us will die, and burdened with a terrible disease.

I was watching the Addams Family marathon on TVLand, and switched over to FNC during a commercial break. As soon as I heard them mention Reagan, I knew.

For some reason, I thought when I read Drudge's report this morning that this would be it, and I had already prepared a tribute for the spokanegop.org homepage.

I hate to say it, but the day Reagan was shot will always stand out in my mind more than the day he passed. Not that i'm not saddened but he has actually been gone quite awhile now. Anyway, I was driving to my class at ODU when I heard he had been shot. When I arrived at the campus, I headed to the library to meet some friends. I told them all what happened. A black guy in our group said "good" and started laughing. I was mortified and stunned that anyone could have that attitude. I will always remember that day.
