I Just a thought this could be a place to share where and what you were doing today when you learned of His passing I think this will be like when JFK was killed the shuttles going down and the wtc and the Pentagon attacks We will never forget
I remember where I was when the Challenger thing happened.
That was a real tragedy. Today was the simple passing of a great man.
I was at Yankee Stadium watching the Texas Rangers-Yankees game. They made the announcement, put Reagan's image and life dates on the big screen and had, I am proud to say, a very respectful moment of silence.
It's called Japan. A nation in the Pacific. You can find it on a map.
John Gillespie Magee Jr. (1922-1941)John Gillespie Magee was an American serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force when he wrote this poem in August or September, 1941. On December 11, 1941, he died in a collision with another aircraft.High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, -- and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air ....
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor ever eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
I had a feeling so I stayed logged on to FR and that is where I got the news first.
I had things I was supposed to do today, but I was so upset I blew everything off. Took a nap, and forgot to shut the back door. Our pet raven strolled in and dumped the trash, then crapped all over the floor.
Well, Ronnie is finally free, and he is with God now. Bless him, and especially Nancy.
Same here. I was at work... a co-worker's mother called and told her of the disaster. I called my mother to hear about the details (no radio or TV at work). I'll never forget President Reagan's live speech to the country about the Challenger disaster (I think it was that same evening?). So sad...
Apparently, sadly, your aunt is a waste of skin. As is his grandparents.
I'f I'd have been there, I would have reamed them a new one.
I was letting my chickens out this morning 6:00am when I heard he was failing. I sent up a prayer then. later this afternoon I was getting back from picking up the frizzles I had ordered and heard about his passing as I was getting out of the truck. Ive been in tears off and on since. He was a wonderful President and i had the pleasure of voting for him twice. President Reagan had a vision for all Americans and made it work! and he loved this country and its people. I just got the book GOD and Ronald Reagan,a spiritual life. I know it will be a great read and now i cant wait to get to it.
you will missed Mr. Reagan god bless you and your family.
You are an honest man to admit that.
I was driving on the express way....heard the announcement on the radio....about thirty minutes later I noticed that about 40% of the cars coming towards me on the opposite side of the hiway had their head lights on....looked in the rear view mirror, and saw the same.....i listened to ABC news radio special for four hours as I traveled through three states...ABC was very fair...did a very good job.....head lights on about 30% of all the cars on the road.
I was on the Internet, and saw it on Drudge, and then here. Didn't expect it for a few more days. It was like a punch to the gut.
I was at the gun range, sending pieces of lead toward paper. Had heard that his health was failing this morning, but didn't hear about his death till around 6:30pm est.
I read about it here on FreeRepublic.
Ronald Reagan was the first US president that I supported, and I was not even living here at the time.
On the road from the Kentucky Republican State Convention, where that cold-fish Mitch McConnell invoked Reagan. All the while I reflected that in 1984, Mitch McConnell didn't have the guts to campaign along side our beloved Reagan. He kept arms-length distance--even then a crude, calculating neophyte.
OK - I just have to ask. What are frizzles?
