I can't believe CSPAN is having callers comment on this.

WHY NOT? People are posting comments HERE - what's the diff if people call-in?

MSNBC just reported what they thought arrangements would be. Reports that it should take a week for all ceremonies to be completed.

I understand that the USS Ronald Reagan is scheduled to return to her home port of San Diego at the end of July.
Southern California FReepers should be there when she arrives, IMHO.

"CSPAN to air Reagan's "Farewell Address" 6 pm ET"

Thank you very much for the heads up on that, it will mean a lot to see this again.

The DU members that are not being civil just show the true hate in their souls. A man that is loved by most Americans has died, his family suffers and they are happy, sad people!

The picture was actually provided by others... I'm simply linking to it. The desktop of my 'puter is a solid blue with only the picture centered.

As a 49yo, my post-University adult life was influenced significantly by President Reagan. It is a clear and undisputable fact that vision, character and inspiration are key attributes of a leader. One can only aspire to imitate a leader such as President Reagan.

I've lost three loved ones to Alzheimer's.

The ending of the ordeal is the most merciful thing one can hope for.

How true, and how tragically ironic that this great man who exuded such joy for life and humanity and, indeed, elicited that same joy from all those in his presence was condemned by fate to this very horrible affliction.

May he laugh with the angels tonight.

"The GREATEST President in my lifetime...."

That's the truth. He believed in freedom and stayed the course, when the elites said he was simplistic in approaching world affairs. And he won the Cold War!

For the younger Freepers who don't remember the days when kids had disaster drills at school in case the Communists dropped the bomb....let me assure you, the US lived under the cloud of potential annihilation for decades. Thank you Mr. Reagan for holding the course.

I know. Sad isn't it? But there is always that one person who stands out.

Hey Freepers, remember the 1984 election when Ronnie kicked Mondale's a**?? That was a good one! The Democrats looked like weak puppies.

Buy a bag of jellybeans

When I was a teen, the only place you could find Jelly Belly brand jelly beans was from a little cart that a flamboyant man ran in the Century City shopping plaza, right near Reagan's office tower. He must have discovered them there. Once he became President and had that famous jar on his desk, those candies hit it big. Now there is probably no store that doesn't sell them!

Thank you. He was a great man and one of my heroes. So I will say goodbye again if you don't mind…
