ABC just announced :( Ronald Reagan was 93
Eternal Father Strong to Save....
Reagan was one of the men who saved the West in the Twentieth Century. We are in his enormous debt. It is fitting the President Bush is returning to America to hold the G-8 meetings here. Bush is Ronnie's true heir, and I want to see the passing of the torch.
Unfortunately, the Eurotrash will be present, as well.
But Maggie, Blair, and Berlusconi will be there. And that is all to the good.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
The sad news was the first thing viewed on one of my just-acquired flea market finds ;and I have been close to tears for the past hour.........
Oh my.....he's my hero
I have every confidence that He will, by His grace and for His glory. Ronald Reagan can never be duplicated, but may the LORD give the current occupant of the Oval Office even more strength to lead us through these troubled waters.
We will prevail, because America is still a "Shining City on a Hill."
This is particularly painful for me because my own father passed away recently after a long illness. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
All I can say is that the sorrow belongs to those of still here on Earth and not him anymore. His soul is now unburdened by the weaknesses of flesh we all share and the terrible illness he suffered under for years.
Heaven is a little brighter now and the Earth is less.
History will remember Ronald Reagan for freeing the people of other nations and bringing back pride to the people of his own.
I miss my father and I'll miss Ronald Reagan.
So did I. You know the chain-of-command photo line in every command? I remember looking at the Boss, every time I passed the President's picture in the passageway and getting the feeling that everything was rightside-up and in good hands. As a Marine I had great confidence in the Command Authority, I knew that Boss Ron wasn't going to send me anywhere unless it really needed to be done, and I'd give it my all.
I'm a sixth-generation Californian, but I live in Virginia now. I went and stood in front of the White House in the rain today, remembering. As I drove back to Alexandria, I missed him terribly.
It is ironic in the extreme. My grandfather couldn't stand Reagan. I love and miss them both now, and for the same reasons.
Gospeed Mr. President. You are terribly missed.
Only a diehard leftist could care about Clinton's life after reviewing the greatness that was Ronald Reagan.
Tears flowing freely.
Who's gonna fill those shoes?
FOX News shows the hearse moving President Reagan from his home to the funeral home. :^(
In all of the millions of words that will be spoken and written today and over the next few days to mark the passing of President Ronald W. Reagan, perhaps the most surprising to me are those spoken by, of all people, Peter Jennings, a short while ago. Jennings acknowledged that President Reagan was one of the greatest presidents ever.
Actually, words are poor tools at a time like this. How does one capture such a giant spirit and reduce it down to mere words? From my earliest childhood, the written word has always been my friend. And yet, I just don't have the words today.
I love Ronald Reagan. I just love him. I honor him, respect him, enjoy him, miss him. He personified the quintessential American hero of our dreams and legends: romantic, patriotic, funny, staunch, brave, smart, self-effacing, impervious to an assassin's bullet. The term "larger than life" doesn't fit very many people, but it sure fit Ronald Reagan.
As a Californian, I'd like to be on the motorcade route or near the Reagan Library on the day of his funeral to show my profound respect and gratitude. But it will be a work day, and I don't know if I can get the day off. So I make this pledge: To continue the Reagan Revolution by working very, very hard to re-elect George W. Bush, in many ways no, not all, but in many ways President Reagan's true political heir.
In closing this, my small personal tribute, I want to say thank you to God for sending him to us. Although he was ours for only a short while, it was enough to know true greatness. This coming November will tell the tale of whether the nation understands and still embraces the Reagan legacy.

OMGosh, I will forever be ashamed that I voted for Anderson in '80, too. It was the first time I voted, so I can claim inexperience, right? : ) (More likely youthful ignorance!)
Haven't messed up since then, either.
The actual funeral and burial will be here in President Reagan's beloved California, at his Simi Valley presidential libarary, roughly 50 feet from a large section of the old Berlin Wall. The section was given to the former President by Michail Gorbachev.

RWR degree was in ecconomics for those who did not know...
Not sure if Maggie Thatcher will be there, because she's also ailing. But I do hope she's well enough to come. It would be good to see her again.
If you do set up a vigil everyone here is with you in spirit.
It is a perfect example of Democratic Compassion.
