I was fortunate enough to have experienced Reagan's greatness and influence firsthand. I was on his Presidential advance teams to Rome twice, Bitburg, Helsinki (before Iceland), and in Berlin on the receiving end of his visit in 1987. I was also in Warsaw during the rise of Solidarnosc, which eventually led to the downfall of the Soviet Union.

What many people may not realize was the fact that Reagan was an inspirational hero to the people of Eastern Europe. In Communist Poland Reagan and the Pope were heroes and the source of support that they would be rely on to cast off the yoke of Communism and the Soviets. Today, throughout Eastern Europe there are streets, squares, etc. named after Reagan.

It is not often that an individual can alter the course of history, but Reagan was one who did through the dint of his optimism and perseverance. He was a true leader.

IIRC, brian williams worked in the Carter administration, he probably will never get over his bitterness over the Gipper's victory over President malaise.

I agree. Though I never had the privilege of knowing the man.

I have to think that if the result of the left spewing hatred about RR is that fence sitters end up voting for GWB, he wouldn't mind that as a final legacy.

They are all getting their digs in, to me it seems profoundly out of place having these leftists, commenting on the death of their idealogical enemy. One thing I am sure of, President Reagan is saying right now "there they go again"

His enemies are digging their own graves by critisizing Ronald Reagan. They're forgetting the entire country overwhelmingly approved of him during his last term. I hope they continue spewing their venom. That's all they bring to the table is their poison.

I met Ronald Reagan during the campaign in 1980. He was a gracious and honest man.

I was proud to later call him my Commander in Chief.

I've been to the Reagan library twice. Both with dates for a nice afternoon. I think that hill will be swamped now and my truck won't fit. When he gets here I will pay my respects after the crowds disperse. Ronald was my CIC while I was in the service. A very honorable man.
