I am so disheartened... I was just surfing over to the official Detroit Lions board, and folks are responding to his death with *YAWN*...

I agree with you. I am so saddened by the death of President Reagan and a liberal friend of mine made an (I beleive unintentional) slightly insensitive comment and I said "Remember, this is a man who was not only our President, but someone's father, husband, etc." Hopefully, those on the opposite side will give respect to their opponents and we may reciprocate in the same way

Oh yeah, we'll all stand together
and TRY to act respectful, but for
the smiles on our faces.

I did find this of yours:

"When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it. "Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything. "I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.' "If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.

~~ Ronald Reagan, in his autobiography, An American Life

All you can do for such people is pray for them, that their hearts be opened to the dignity of their brothers.

Wish I had FOX News.

I've had to stomach ABC and instead of celebrating a great man, it's turned in to another Bush attack on the stem cell research issue because Nancy has made a supportive statement about using embryos for stem cell research.

Let the dems, the liberal media, and those at DU continue their disrepect for this great man. He was the most respected president in our lifetime. I heard he had the highest approval ratings of any retiring president ever. He is truly loved by so many across the politcal spectrum. Let the media trash him. It is going to make them look so petty and stupid. And the media wonders why their ratings are tanking? We have lost repect and diginity in this country. I remember a line from the movie "Troy". The king who had lost his son went to Achilles to ask for his body. He said "even though we are enemies, we can still respect each other". Unfortunately, a good part of this country has lost that. Too bad. Reagan would be sad.

Reporter asked x41 about RR moving the center to the right. IOW reporter is acknowledging this is a conservative nation in part due to RR.

They will be playing RR D-day speech this week right next to GWBush's.

x41 made excellent statements which make present democrats look like buffoons.

We'll pick you up on the way. White gloves are required!

I believe I should also have a thick veil on my hat... just in case...

The b.s. is quite thick among the media elite right now, as they are putting forth their revisionist history that they didn't spend the entirety of the 80s savaging Ronald Reagan.

IF I am remmebering correctly, Miss Marple's "appearance" involves some signage and obscene gestures. :-)

Fox's coverage has been good, except for when they were using video from a helicopter flying above the Reagans' home. I thought that showed extremely bad taste. Obviously, someone at the network thought the same thing, as I think they stopped using it.

I love 41 too.
He's speaking so lovingly about RWR.
Despite the press reports, I know
they were close.

They actually think someone like Mao or Stalin has died.

No, they don't. They just know history hates Mao and Stalin as they hate President Reagan.

Their's is the joy of the damned.

You are not the only one. I always think of him as America's Grandfather.

I'm just glad that I am old enough to be able to remember him.

If there's not enough room, can I hitch a ride on the running board?
