Fox news is reporting that Nancy Reagan told Chris Wallace that "the long journey is coming to an end." The family is gathering at their Bel Air Home.

Geez, Yonder, that's good stuff. He NEVER backed off this unbounding optimism, did he? I especially enjoy the recent revelations about his writing -- that he had much more to do with it than anyone gave credit for. Like I said, I've expected this was coming, but I didn't expect it to be as hard as it is.

I cast my first vote for Ronald Reagan in November 1980. I was a freshman in college and became part of the Reagan revolution and an active college Republican. I alter interned with the Heritage Foundation because of Reagan and eventually entered law school. Aside from my own father and The Father, Ronald Reagan has beenthe most influencial person in my life. His unbridled optimism and love of his fellow man were contagious! I met many wonderful college Republicans because of Ronald Reagan. He had the with and wisdom of my Father and Grandfather.

Thank you Ronald Reagan. You have been a part of my family.

Welcome! Welcome to the shining city on the hill!

All in all, not a bad job ... not bad at all.

What you say is true, but I believe that when Ronald Reagan passes over, he will be in a place where he can once again serve America. He loved God and he loved America in that order, so how can anyone who believes in an eternal life doubt that he will do whatever he can to see that blessings from above are bestowed upon our country and citizens? I believe Reagan was one of the best men ever to hold the office.

He was also one of our best presidents. He just missed being truly great.

While there is no 'fitting time' for a man of Reagan's stature to go, his passing on the anniversary of D-Day would be one of great meaning. Reagan was and will remain the Eisenhower of our era. And his assault on the forces of evil took longer than WWII, but still defeated the enemy of Soviet communism.

Good too that he isn't lucid enough to see that communism and socialism, veiled as they are by the media, have taken up serious roots within the democrat party.

Back during Reagan's administration, one could count the number of communist/socialist elected officials on one hand. Dellums and company back then. Today that block has its own caucus in the 'Rat party. And it actually includes key 'Rat leaders.

I am so torn between not wanting to lose this great man, and the utter joy of knowing that at last he will be free of the body that has held him prisoner.

JANUARY 11, 1989 Eco Summit

"Something that happened to me a few years ago reflects some of this.
It was back in 1981, and I was attending my first big economic summit, which was held that year in Canada. The meeting place rotates among the member countries. The opening meeting was a formal dinner for the heads of government of the seven industrialized nations.

Now, I sat there like the new kid in school and listened, and it was all Francois this and Helmut that. They dropped titles and spoke to one another on a first-name basis. Well, at one point I sort of leaned in and said, "My name's Ron." Well, in that same year, we began the actions we felt would ignite an economic comeback--cut taxes and regulation, started to cut spending. And soon the recovery began.

Two years later another economic summit, with pretty much the same cast. At the big opening meeting we all got together, and all of a sudden, just for a moment, I saw that everyone was just sitting there looking at me. And one of them broke the silence. "Tell us about the American miracle," he said

I still have a Reagan campaign poster in my law office. I was commissioned as an Army JAG in 1984, and was proud to have served him as my Commander-in-Chief.
