And Yesterday...they were in Afghanistan
Several soldiers, serving in Afghanistan, got up close and personal with country superstar Toby Keith and rocker Ted Nugent.
Keith and Nugent spent the night in Kabul entertaining soldiers from the 45th Infantry Brigade, which is based in Oklahoma City. The pair greeted the men and women, signed autographs and of course sang.
The 45th Infantry is part of the Coalition Task Force Phoenix, responsible for training the Afghan National Army.

ILLESHEIM, Germany There were no Angry Americans in Illesheim as rocker Ted Nugent and country giant Toby Keith unleashed a free Memorial Day concert to pay tribute to soldiers and their families. About 7,000 people from military communities in Germany attended the concert. Many communities offered free bus transportation to the site. Before the concert, hundreds of people had their photos taken with Keith and Nugent. In an effort to get all of the people in line in during the hourlong photo opportunity, groups of at least 10 people were rushed through. Digital photos will be available in about two weeks on the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Web site www.mwr-europe.com according to Lisa Eichhorn, 235th Base Support Battalion spokeswoman. Still, some who hoped to have their photo taken were turned away as time ran out. I was the first one in the group they had to turn away, said Joellen Arthur, from Schweinfurt. Im leaving for the States in a couple days and it was disappointing. However, Arthur said she expected the concert to make up for it. I cant wait for the concert, she said. Hes been my favorite country singer since he started. Ive always been a Toby Keith fan. During the 90-minute concert, Keith performed his troops-praising singles The Taliban Song and Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American). Nugent performed Cat Scratch Fever and a screaming guitar version of the national anthem. Early on Monday, Keith and Nugent visited Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and spoke with soldiers who had been injured in Iraq. There was one girl who was waiting to have surgeries done, and we couldnt get her to smile, Keith said. But the reason she wasnt smiling is that the doc wouldnt release her to get back to her unit in Iraq. It was an awful quiet ride on the way back [to Illesheim]. It was a very emotional time. Keith said he enjoys performing for the troops. Theyre hard-working people and want peace just like everybody else, he said. But their mission is to make that peace. Nugent said meeting servicemembers was a wake-up call. It was a real powerful slap in the face, he said. The rest of the world is relaxed and comfortable, and they dont even know why. We got to see the people who are fighting for that and willing to die for it.

I see Toby made VH1s list of top 100 worst songs ever. When VH1 pushes an agenda they don't let chart toppers get in the way. They seem to have a real problem with patriotism.

Ted Nugent. Man, I've been listening to this cat all the way back to the days of Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes. "Great White Buffalo", "Call of the Wild" and all those other classics. He's still one of my faves.

Gotta' do a little promotion for my Oklahoma homeboys (and gals), as I drove past
the division museum of the famed Thunderbirds (not the Air Force guys!) on my way to/from work
for about a year.

WOW, Toby and Nuge are great. They weren't just doing run of the mill USO stops, they were performing for the guys out on the front lines. It takes balls just to go to Iraq, but these 2 performed in Falluja. Good JOB!

I spotted Keith and Nugent in Iraq first, and seem to do their "support our troops tour" backwards. The Iraq Concert was a few hours ago and hard to find pictures of it right now.

Oklahoma's Republican Women's Clubs adopted soldiers from this Oklahoma unit and every soldier a box of items they needed. Our Cleveland County Republican Women's Club adopted six of the soldiers.
