Slate's Fred Kaplan: Risk of Bush Collapse Is Soaring
Slate ^ | June 3, 2004 | Fred Kaplan

Posted on 06/04/2004 12:52:04 PM PDT by Bonaventure

The walls haven't collapsed around George W. Bush, but the pillars are buckling, the floorboards are rattling, the inspectors are probing, and it doesn't look good.

In the White House and the Pentagon, senior officials face the prospect of criminal charges. The vice president is accused of malfeasance, at best. A key erstwhile ally in the war on terrorism has apparently turned against us in an act of criminal perfidy. And now the nation's spymaster has turned in his cloak—it's not yet clear whether he jumped or got pushed; either way, Bush's risk-rating has just soared.

These leftists are into extreme fantasy, wishful thinking and flat-out lying. Nice group.

Nothing will ever beat William Saletan's column, written in October 2000 (if I'm not mistaken) and declaring that "Bush Is Toast!" Saletan has been eating crow ever since.

I will put this article with a bunch more I have of Bush losing and failing. When he wins in a landslide in the coming election, I will take them out and laugh my A$$ off.

Actually, Kaplan, what's soaring is Bush's prospects. Iraq? Looking better. The economy? Wow!

The left are desperate for a Bush collapse and every event that takes place from now until the election will be Bush's so called "collapse."

One might do well to look back at the articles on FR during the last 3 years of Klinton. Every time anyone in the administration farted, we thought that THIS IS IT. ;-)

Is this from the "make it up" school of journalism?

It's from Slate isn't it?

Kerry's fortunes are falling behind Ralph Nader. Twenty percent of the Democrats are talking of going Nader in order to avoid voting for Kerry, the Raspberry poll showed today.

OK on the book, but I can't possibly believe the Dems would allow Bush to pick anyone without a fight, no matter the times.

Of course any fuss would benefit Bush, like in'02.

Only the Kool-Aid drinking Dems could convince themselves that bringing in Giuliani would be a disaster for President Bush...

Libs like Kaplan are the same ones who were shrieking that Condi Rice was going to get fired as a scapegoat for 9/11 and Rumsfeld was going to get fired for Abu Ghraib. Libs always impute their own motives and screwball reasoning to situations, so they can never be taken seriously. Oh they might be right occasionally, like a stopped clock, but it's doubtful their analysis of any situation is within miles of the truth. Actually many conservatives where hollering for Tenet's resignation or firing.

I think this is because, in Lib Land, when something goes wrong, fingers are pointed, blame is assigned and someone is forced to fall on their sword before being shown to the secret revolving door.

Dubya is loyal and has integrity. He doesn't do any of those things and it drives the lefties nuts.

Personally, I think Tenet was burned out. I also wonder if the 16-yr-old was having some common teenage problems and Dad really needs to spend some time w/him and straighten him out before it is too late. With college coming up fast, I do not blame anyone for wanting to move into the private sector and make some money, either. But that's just me. I believe there are parents who are responsible, even if they were appointed to their position by Clinton.

Here's how: First, smoke a couple blunts, then drink 2 rumrunners. Look at the clock. Add 5 minutes to it. That's the time your article is due. Start typing a story about a President you hate.

ROTFLMAO!
