UPDATE: Iraqis to Join D.C. Chapter's Rumble at Rumsfeld's Round III, June 5

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us at two events we will be holding on Saturday, June 5, in D.C. to counter the "antiwar" rally and march being held by International ANSWER that day.

We will be joined by Iraqi exile leaders and some of the men who had their hands amputated at Abu Ghraib on orders of Saddam Hussein.

At 10 a.m., we will hold a media availability on the north side of Lafayette Park at 16th Street and H Street, NW.

From 2 p.m. to about 5 p.m., we will gather outside the home of Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld in the 2200 block of Kalorama Rd., NW, and hold a peaceful demonstration of support for him, President Bush, our troops and their mission fighting the war on terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

The ANSWER march will arrive at Rumsfeld's between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

We have a permit from the D.C. police for our demonstration.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

We plan to start a live thread in a couple hours. As you can tell from the above posts, it is pretty wet around here (we soccer moms had no games today). Partly because of the weather, the Lafayette Park gathering was not well attended.

BillF says Fox and local channel 7 (ABC) interviewed Kristinn, who was also preparing for a possible CNN interview.

Kristinn also said that AP was out taking pictures and the ANSWER staff kept trying to get their protesters to go back to the rally site and stay away from the FReepers.

There should be a large contingent of TV and print media reps at Rummy's house. Wait till they see tgslTakoma's construction project!
