Distaso focuses on Laci's clothes
Defense questions accuracy of Modesto Police reports
By Jason Dearen, STAFF WRITER
REDWOOD CITY -- While prosecutors focused Thursday on "Mary Jane" shoes and the color of pants Laci Peterson wore on the day before her murder, the alleged killer's defense attorneys launched their assault on the Modesto Police Department's murder investigation. On the first full day of testimony in the double-murder trial, prosecutor Rick Distaso called six witnesses who either saw or had information about Laci's actions on the last day she was seen alive.
Witnesses testified that, on the day before her disappearance, Laci did some grocery shopping for Christmas dinner
at Trader Joe's, got a facial waxing at a day spa, and accompanied husband Scott Peterson to get his hair cut. .....

Geragos deconstructs prosecution's case against Peterson
Defense attorney: Fetus was born full-term therefore defendant's not responsible for murders
By Jason Dearen, STAFF WRITER
REDWOOD CITY -- Scott Peterson is a cad not a killer, his defense attorney said Wednesday as he began an assault on the very essence of the evidence against Peterson -- when his wife and child died.
In the scenario cast by attorney Mark Geragos, the child was born alive weeks after Christmas Eve 2002, the date prosecutors say his mother, Laci Peterson, had been killed.
"If this baby was born alive, clearly Scott Peterson had nothing to do with this murder," Geragos explained to the six men and six women of the jury. .......

Witness testifies that Laci was a 'rare pregnant woman'"
She was a rare pregnant woman, said Michelle Buer, whom Peterson saw regularly for day-spa treatments. She was very happy through her whole pregnancy.
Testimony from Buer and three others this morning sketched a picture of Laci Peterson going about holiday business and mildly pampering herself Dec. 23, 2002 - the day before she was reported missing, sparking a massive search........

REDWOOD CITY -- A maternity blouse similar to the one Laci Peterson was wearing hours before prosecutors believe she was murdered was found wadded up in a dresser drawer at her home, Peterson's sister testified Thursday.
But prosecutors failed to lay out the significance of that for jurors in a disjointed first full day of testimony that showcased "missed opportunities," one legal observer said. ......

Feb. 16: Laci Peterson: A Fateful 24 Hours
MODESTO, Calif. -- By all accounts, the Christmas holiday season was one of Laci Peterson's favorite times of the year. She enjoyed creating special desserts and had even taken cooking classes in France.
Her skills had earned her the nickname of 'cake lady' from several of those closest to her. Family and friends waited in anticipation to see what she would whip up for holiday gatherings........

I'll see if I can cruise by RWC today with a camera to catch all the newsmediahype.
The answer we know already. Her body was found with beige pants and blouse. Scott said she had on black pants when he left on his fishing trip.
So the black pants and/or blouse should have been in the laundry or ready to go to the cleaners OR in the closet.
One lady (I think from the spa) said all the wives complained about their husbands...but not Lacie. Fear and/or shame can do that to you. Experience is the best teacher.
And the "eyewitness(es)" to Laci sightings also said that she had on black pants and white shirt. This is key, and may go to discredit their testimony.
cool..but I think court today is not in session for Peterson trial... resumes Monday...
She had on the waistband and tatters of pants ,same color as last seen in the evening of the 23rd. and a bra..The blouse she wore when last seen at the Salon on the 23rd was photographed first by the police on top of a clothes hamper and then found by Amy,her sister,in a walk through with the police much later "wadded up" in a drawer.. is how I recall it..
I thought you would be interested in this poster's excellent point about MG's reported new assertion that Snotty purchased the boat for Ron. (on yesterday's thread)
To: Rusty Roberts
"IF the boat was for Ron, why was there no mention to anyone else?"
Not only that, but why would you go fishing in someone's "present"?

I'm kind of glad this isn't on tv...I'd probably be glued to it again--and I DON'T want to do that in the summer...thanks for the pings RB!
Thanks for the info.
Over here is today's thread.
RB, another entry for your ping list!
That IS a good point!
Okay, so the second-to-last article you posted says that Distaso displayed a photo of a clothes hamper full of men's clothes, and the hamper also showed that shirt of Laci's hanging out of it. That is, the shirt Amy saw her in the evening of the 23rd.
Then, Amy testified that she found that same shirt "wadded up in a dresser drawer" in the bedroom. Amy found it that way during that Feb. search where the police asked her to come in the house--the search from which Amy emerged crying.
And the article criticizes Distaso for not "explaining" this seeming discrepancy. I wonder how he's supposed to explain it, when he is not in the argument stage of the trial? What he needs to do is keep a note of the discrepancy, then offer his own explanation of it when the time finally comes for closing arguments.
My own idea of how the shirt changed from hanging out of the clothes hamper to wadded up in the dresser drawer is: I think that picture of the hamper was maybe taken during the earlier time or times that the police were in the Peterson house. Then, sometime before the last police search in February, SOMEONE (presumably Scott) took that blouse from the hamper and stuffed it in the drawer.

Good Morning everyone.
No trial on Fridays.
Not a clue...RG do you know if or when???
Distaso told the judge "I'll get to that later."
