CBN.com CAPITOL HILL - We have heard much in recent weeks from the media about shameful photos and video of American soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners.
Americans were disgusted, yes. But that was nothing compared to what was unveiled on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Shown were shocking videos of horrific atrocities committed by Saddam Hussein against his own people, one of the main reasons America went to war.
The tape is hard to watch, and the senators who released it say that is the point. The tape is proof positive of the reality of Iraq under Saddam Hussein. At first what you see are Saddam's henchmen preparing to chop off a body part, presumable because of some crime against Saddam and his government.
The video continues. An Iraqi man is about to have his tongue cut off, and the pain is unbearable.
On the tape, versus from the Koran are quoted. There is a line about how this is being done in the name of Allah, and in another part, one of Saddam's soldiers explains what is about to happen to the next victim, who is about to have his arm cut off.
Later in the tape, there is a beating that goes on for a while and then a beheading, with a mob standing around to watch.
Throughout all of the video, Senators Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) stood to the side, motionless, not watching. Many others at the press conference could not bear to watch either. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) says comparing the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by some American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison to torture like this is wrong.
Santorum said, "When we found out about that treatment, we prosecuted that treatment and these people are being severely punished. That's the difference, and it's a difference that is a real difference with a very meaningful distinction that at least has some have missed."
As for how the tape went public, Santorum asked the Defense Department if they had any video showing Saddam's torture. Though the tape has been in the possession of the Defense Department for some time, it was finally released to Santorum this week.

I don't care to ever see it .. I'm just glad the blame America first crowd was compelled to watch it. Now they can no longer continue to spew their hateful stuff about our best and brightest in the military.
Oh, sure. Let Saddam have it back .....
Atrocity ?!?!?! That's NOT an ATROCITY!
THAT'S an atrocity!!
That works, though greyed out
I will be willing to bet money that Senators Kennedy and Clinton didn't attend the viewing.
I actually received an email from a former guest of ours entitled "From the ghost of General Patton - Listen Up!" showing this particular picture along with a few others from Sept 11th. The descriptions are written as if General Patton were speaking comparing the difference of what happened on Sept 11th and the uproar from the prison abuse pictures. I'm sure I couldn't post it here, but if anyone would like me to send a copy of it to them privately just email me and I'll be glad to send it.
Of course not. Their minds are made up, damn it, and that's that. WE are evil, period.
#43-44 fyi .....
bump !!
It might be appropriate for Teddy to put a pair of Mary Jo Kopechne's panties over his head.
It wouldn't be the first time old drunk uncle ted wore panties on his head or had a leash around his neck!
Pray for W and Our Awesome Troops
