Saddam Torture Videos Viewed by Congress

CBN.com – CAPITOL HILL - We have heard much in recent weeks from the media about shameful photos and video of American soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners.

Americans were disgusted, yes. But that was nothing compared to what was unveiled on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Shown were shocking videos of horrific atrocities committed by Saddam Hussein against his own people, one of the main reasons America went to war.

The tape is hard to watch, and the senators who released it say that is the point. The tape is proof positive of the reality of Iraq under Saddam Hussein. At first what you see are Saddam's henchmen preparing to chop off a body part, presumable because of some crime against Saddam and his government.

The video continues. An Iraqi man is about to have his tongue cut off, and the pain is unbearable.

On the tape, versus from the Koran are quoted. There is a line about how this is being done in the name of Allah, and in another part, one of Saddam's soldiers explains what is about to happen to the next victim, who is about to have his arm cut off.

Later in the tape, there is a beating that goes on for a while and then a beheading, with a mob standing around to watch.

Throughout all of the video, Senators Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) stood to the side, motionless, not watching. Many others at the press conference could not bear to watch either. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) says comparing the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by some American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison to torture like this is wrong.

Santorum said, "When we found out about that treatment, we prosecuted that treatment and these people are being severely punished. That's the difference, and it's a difference that is a real difference with a very meaningful distinction that at least has some have missed."

As for how the tape went public, Santorum asked the Defense Department if they had any video showing Saddam's torture. Though the tape has been in the possession of the Defense Department for some time, it was finally released to Santorum this week.

Was there a video tape of Clinton actually raping? I recall that there was security tape showing him attacking a woman in the White House.

Secondly, where is evidence of this so I can link it to others.

Thanks.

Can't find video footage on this link. Only regular news cast on their video link. Anyone know where to find it?

"Santorum (R-PA) says comparing the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by some American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison to torture like this is wrong."

The abuse at Abu Ghraib has been said to pale even the activities of the Einsatzgruppen (Nazis). Those who have made that comparison should have to see this tape and then defend that comparison. BTW-if the incidents at Abu Ghraib are so terrible, why aren't THOSE photographs too graphic for prime time news? Hmmmm?

This was evidence that was proof positive of his rapes. The evidence was never shown to anyone but Congress, and is under "wraps" for the next 50-100 years, supposedly.

I recall people (reporters) who stood outside the heavily guarded room where the evidence was being shown, reporting that some people came out crying, while still others actually vomited.

"Yeah, but at least the guy that got his tongue cut out didn't have to wear underwear on his head. Just ask Teddy Kennedy which prisoner treatment is worse."

And then, just imagine Ted Kennedy with his tongue cut out. What a relief THAT would be!

It is a good thing that Sen. Santorum did to show this in perspective. It is noble that we removed Saddam Hussein's regime from Iraq.

Soon to be done in America "in the name of Secular Humanism."

You certainly won't see Wolf Blitzedout reporting this on CNN.

Nor will you see the Iraqis who had hands cut off interviewing with President Bush on local prime time news.

Thanks very much, Geist Krieger for posting this!

I heard Senator Santorum on Sean Hannity's program this afternoon and he said that they offered the video footage to all the major Networks and not one U.S. Network would take it. Obviously CBN did. He said there was some French news network (of all places) actually took a copy, but other than them, not one...not even FOX.

It amazes me that not even FoxNews would take this.

This seems to be something Bill Oreilly would jump on. Even Rush Limbauh should grab hold of this one!

Very strange this isn't broadcast widely, especially in light of all the damnation being heaped upon our amred forces over the panties over the prisoner's heads smear campaign.

EVEN THE FRENCH TOOK IT!!

The very IDEA that what was done in Abu Gharib was TORTURE is to define the WORD ITSELF DOWN. It is being done on a daily basis by virtually every media and press outlets. So when FINALLY, we see REAL torture ON VIDEO, what WORDS can we use to describe it??? Torture then becomes relative and looses it's meaning forever.

This is typical LEFTIST newspeak and EVERYONE should be aware!

Let's get busy and ask Santorun to put the file on his home page, or at least send it to someone who can host it. I will shoot him an e-mail right now.

That's all well and good, Rick. But how about having the guts to publicly (and harshly) condemn the seditious Senator who made those comparisons/allegations in the first place -- Ted Kennedy. Why does this fat, drunk, senile murderer always get a pass from the spineless Pubbies? (Oops I guess I just answered my own question).

That would be a good next move, and one I'd love to see. Santorum seems to be one of the few GOPers with a strong backbone.
