FWIW, since the US is worried about an attack this summer, I don't think the Senate will dare screw with the confirmation process. No matter how much they'd like to.

I always liked Tenet too, despite the beatings he has taken on FR by those who dislike him.

not if it were Rudy, the Dems couldn't touch him. how about Zell Miller.

"Now if the rest of the Clintoon "holdovers" go, we might make progress..."Exactly.
...the logic seems so simple.

The media will spin it as Bush's national security team cracking up because the war has gone badly I don't think it will be related to the Iraq war. They may spin it as related to 9/11 hearings though. Will it be enough to feed the liberal appetite for destruction? They will chant for Condi's head too.

I thought that when I watched him being questioned by the 911 commission, he seemed to point the finger at Gorelickers "wall" slightly. I am not so sure anyone else would have done much better with the restrictions in place by Gorelick, Reno, et al.
Wonder who Bush will put in his place...
To: mewzilla
Correct, which could account for the timing. This takes the President off the hook for Intel failures since Tenet was a Clinon appointee, and Now the Presidnet can stick his guy in, Right around the time of the Dems Convention.

that is another issue here - Tenet may know of some attacks coming this summer, and wants to get the hell out of the way now.
I don't like any of this.

"I want RUDY! I want RUDY!"
LOL, Can't have him!
He's needed to run against Shrillary in '06.

This is not good news 150 days from the election. It will not have one iota of effect on the election.
Tenet's job is done. Seven years is a long time in this job, as Boyden Gray says.

Rudy would be good.
I'm dreading the confirmation process...regardless of the terrorist threats for this summer...the Rats will politicize it.

Of course he will. you will see Tenet and Bemer come out strongly against the administration. They hae been planning this a long time. It will be the plame leaks, Chalabi, Bremer and Tenet all summer. capped off with the 911 report.
Bushg was a fool to trust any Democrat. It will not be pretty. Hope it does not cost the election.
