I did not even have to look at DU to know that.
All I did was look at what oceanview posts to know what they are writing.
If they have an ounce of sense in Rove's office.
I'm not worried at all.
Tenet has stayed longer than most CIA directors. He served through some difficult years and under the former president who didn't give him the tools he needed to fight terrorism.
"Ten bucks seys he'll be working for Kerry within a month."
Or maybe he and Clark will start a consulting company.
Rudy is too heavy handed to be effective, if you really don't want a dysfunctional CIA. Rudy would be best as our governor here in NYS -- he's better as an executive -- though I hope he knocks off Sen. Hillary first.
I'll never forget that Powell demanded Tenet accompany him to the UN when he made his case there. He must have known something was fishy. Powell made him sit right behind him there. Smart move on Powell's part.
I would be somewhat surprised if Tenet really came out against Bush for a few reasons.
First, Bush was the guy who stood in the gap when everyone wanted Tenet strung up.
Second, Tenet really knows how much shennigans (sp?) has been played by the democrats over 9/11, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He has seen the visceral hate for the administration and how it has gone well over the bounds of "normal" politics.
Third, he knows the threat to this country is real peril from terrorism. The dems are talking internationalization and all the UN stuff, which Tenet has seen, first hand, does not work.
So, I would be quite disappointed in Director Tenet if he were to start shilling, though, admittedly, I would only be somewhat surprised not entirely surprised.
I'm not so certain I believe that Chalabi story at all.
Consider this:
Presumably Chalabi told Iran that the US had broken their secret code.
Then Iran used the same secret code to communicate with their allies and our enemies that we had broken the code.
Iranian regime members may not be rocket scientists may not be rocket scientists, but they are not stupid either.
So did Adm. Standsfield Turner, and we saw what a mess he made out of the Agency. Thanks, Jimmah.
Oh please ... the Dems have been calling for his head for some time now
President Bush chose well when he decided that Tenet would properly continue as CIA dir. Priest's comment is dead on.
.
Well, Rove may be the problem.
why are you saying that people who think this is a bad move are "trying to bring down Bush"?
Its just the opposite, I don't want to see Bush brought down - and this resignation is a gift to the media for another round of negative spin. Tenet couldn't have stayed for another 150 days? why not?
hope he do it ??? gubermint edgewmakashun
I see you're not up to speed on the *facts* regarding the story and instead rely on liberal talking points.
That is not impressive.
Peter Goss.....is in line I understand.
We are still paying for Stansfield Turner's mistakes, and the real truth about John Deutch's ineptness was swept under the rug. Care to think again about your statement.
You and I agree. Either McCain or Rudy would be a solid kick in the groin to Kerry and the DNC. Both are superstars seen as having independence from the Bush party line.
