I hear Ray Bradbury has gone ballistic because Moore stole his title. Would only be appropriate if Bradbury sued Moore and received a judgment for all of the profits.

What's the point? It will show, and be gone within a week. If we make a big deal about it, more theatres will show it because they will think there is an interest or that the controversy will draw the curious.

Just let it come out and whither on the vine.

"Fahrenheit 911"? Isn't that the temperature at which solid fat turns to gas?

You couldn't more effectively promote his film if you were his advertising agency.

Ignore it. It's apparently a bore that will not make anywhere near his "blockbuster" Columbine film, and that one made only $20 million domestically (less than "BioDome", less than "Ernest Goes to Camp.")

I really wouldn't worry about this movie. It will be burried in the pile of forgotten movies soon enough.

It is being released June 25. Also out currently competing for the movie dollar is Shrek 2 and Harry Potter (June 4).

Upcoming movie releases (note: not recommending, purely informing):

6/11 Stepford Wives
Chronicles of Riddick
6/16 Around the World in 80 Days
6/18 Dodgeball (Ben Stiller)
The Terminal (Hanks/Speilberg)
6/25 White Chicks (Wayan Brothers)
6/30 Spiderman 2

Not many people will be willing to shell out $10+ for a political movie when for the same ticket price they can see a variety of entertaining movies.

We learned today that the Weinstein bros have formed a company to distribute this PROPAGANDA disguised as a 'documentary' or 'entertainment'.

I think ALL FREEPERS across the nation should publicly FReep any theater that attempts to show it.

I suggest printing this movie poster in the largest format you can and affix it to a firm posterboard and walk in front of the theater!

I don't agree with prohibiting ANYONE from seeing the film, no matter how idiotic it may be. Let Americans make the choice for themselves, or do we feel that Americans are just to stupid to make decisions for themselves? BEsides, we'd HATE it if the left did something similar to us, now wouldn't we.....

I think I will see it TWICE.

I understand your frustration, but you're wasting your time and energy in fighting the showing of this film. It's still a free country, and theatre owners can show if they want, and people can go to see if they want to see it. You'd be better off helping George Bush get elected by volunteering your services to your local Republican Party.

are you on Michael Moore's payroll? If you aren't, you should be. He loves this. If word of boycott spreads the networks will have another excuse to give him hours of free commercials.

With it being scheduled between movies this summer, my guess is that in the handful of theaters it actually makes it into (most likely the "art houses" as opposed to REAL theaters), it'll only last a week or two at the max.

Hopefully Miramax (who already has a habit of releasing bullsh*t, remember "Buffalo Soldiers?") will take a bath on it.

I've got no desire to give Jabba the Fatass any more attention.

I think it would be appropriate for freepers to individually and privately make it known to the managers of theaters that show this movie that they will never darken the doorsteps of that theater again. We got the pro-Franken sign in the window of Papaya King to come down by doing it that way.

Contrary to our usual tactics, we do NOT want to make a big public fuss about this that feeds into a news story.

I think a better idea to protest it is by going out and seeing a different movie this weekend..heck go to a few different ones..give someone else the ratings and the money. if a few milliuon republicans all of the suddden hit the theatres and saw something else.. it would push his fantasy film down the chart...just a thought.

Bump for good news:

Both ABC and NBC issued reality checks on the movie this evening...both good pieces of journalism that were fair and balanced....in fact, I would say slightly negative toward the movie if not more so.

First up: Lisa Myers of NBC. She critiqued about 4 main points of the movie (and both NBC and ABC did not mention anything about the scene where Bush finished reading to the kids instead of running from the room and running people over like George in Seinfeld, which apparently is what Michael Moore believed he should have done). The reporters, unlike Moore, found nothing odd about Bush staying calm in the face of a crisis. Anyway, Myers also mentioned how Moore ambushed senators about having their kids go to the war in Iraq. But, way to go Myers because she mentioned the fact that Moore edited the responses to make them seem worse (particularly that one congressmen who spoke out and said Moore simply left his response out that he has kids in Iraq). Myers also scoffed at the Bush-Bin Laden connection and "laziness" of Bush regarding terrorism and the Bin Laden families flying out; Myers said that the govt. only approved people to fly out who were not wanted for questioning by the FBI, so that claims of favoritism was exaggerated. Myers concludes her report by cautioning that Moore's "excesses and distortions" clouds his message.

Next, ABC's Dan Harris did a report questioning the integrity of the movie. And....this was pretty awesome...he used Richard Clarke to rip on Michael Moore. This is no doubt because Clarke is the terrorism expert for ABC, and a reporter under deadline will go to the easiest expert source. However, it is significant because, as Harris noted, Moore uses Clarke in the movie as some vindicator for his views. Clarke himself is used in the ABC report to repudiate this claim. Harris, in the voiceover for his report, pretty unambiguously stated that Clarke himself "green-lighted the flights [of the Bin Laden family]," something ignored in Moore's film. Clarke is then quoted on camera as stating that the family did not pose a danger, thus explaining his action and that Bush was not trying to cover anything up unlike what Moore claims. Clarke then rips Moore on his mention of Bush supporting Bin Laden via business and family relationships. All in all, very balanced report for a news organization tied to Disney and the makers of Moore's film. It even is more scathing than Myers' report, which was just fair and balanced. The Harris piece is biased against Moore even, IMO. He concludes with an interesting analogy that I forgot, but it basically means not to expect a fair analysis of the facts from Moore.

Nice to see some decent journalism on Moore's film. It must be REALLY awful for the mainstream media to be tearing it to shreds.

Let's thank these reporters. I could only find an e-mail for Lisa directly at Rumor Mill News: lisa.myers@nbc.com

Use with caution, and if it does not get through, save your message for the general NBC e-mail.

Here is NBC Nightly News e-mail: Nightly@nbc.com

For ABC and Dan Harris, try: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/WorldNewsTonight/WNT_newemail_form.html

You also, according to Rumor Mill News, can contact Dan Harris directly at: dan.harris@abc.com Again, be cautious in case the direct e-mails do not work.

Ignore moore, more.

Afford the fat moron the dignity of the consequences of his own actions and he'll soon join the rest of totalitarianism's envy-motivated, hatred-engined and rage-driven detritus in history's dustbin.

If they can fit him in.

How's this for an idea:

Ridicule it.
From what I gather, it ranks right up there with the Rocky Horror Picture Show
A obvious obnoxious approach is not needed, perhaps one could watch the flix as one would approach Movie Theater 3000 - looking for bad cinematography.

.

.

Editorialize I dunno, what ever comes to mind, something like
"The air space WAS open"
"Liar"
"Gawd your fat"

The only downside is that these tactics might lead to ejection or a unwanted physical confrontation.

I think if it is done in the right spirit it might fly.
