Should we have taken that attitude towards Hitler, after all, that Treaty of Versailles was pretty harsh and unfair towards Germany, maybe we should allow him to militarize the Rhineland, build an air force, etc.

Precisely. This board is full of Conservatives and Bush voters who want to line up and help Moore make this film the biggest propaganda hit since Triumph of the Will. An organized boycott would simply increase the chatter about his film, that's all.

Now if you really want to hurt the fat bastard, make sure that the Shanghai Triad gets a copy of his film so they can bootleg it to DVD and start distributing it at, say, 25% of ticket price. If you decide to see this film, do not go to the movies to see it. That's putting money in Moore's pocket. Nope, borrow a bootlegged copy from someone else. Whatever you do, do not see it at the movies and do not buy the DVD.

You may be pissed off when you see this tripe, but you'll also be putting money in the Fat Bastard's pocket. Don't.

Now if you want to see well-done propaganda, rent Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will. Follow it up with Olympiade, Riefenstahl's paean to the 1936 Berlin Games. Riefenstahl's films have a consistency that Moore cannot capture, because what Leni is doing is, primarily, recording an event (the 1934 Parteitag Rally in Nuremburg). She builds the propaganda around the event by recording the reactions of enthusiastic SA men. It's a genuinely good film in the service of a monstrous cause, and I recommend it for anyone who wants to understand just how effective good propaganda can be. Also rent Olivier's 1944 production of Henry V; Shakespeare placed at the service of the Allied Cause.

For anyone who wants to see bad propaganda, borrow any Moore film, of course. Or rent Aleksandr Nevsky, a ponderous Stalinoid epic in which Nevsky repels the Teutonic Invasion at the Battle of Lake Peipus while looking remarkablly like Uncle Joe.

Remember, NO MONEY FOR FAT BASTARD!

Please publish a list of all movies, songs, books and art that we need to destroy and never let anyone ever see ever again. You obviously know what best for the American People, better than the American people do.

Maybe we can even have a Government Agency that goes around giving approvals or setting the Moral standards for all the sheeple. Maybe we could even have a night where we all go around destroying that which we know to be in direct opposition to our way of thinking...sounds like fun.

You're exactly right. The very WORST thing we could do would be to call theaters. A large-scale effort like that would turn it into something far, far bigger.

I got incredible notes, phone calls, e-mails and letters from Jonathan Demme, Jeff Bridges, Martin Scorsese, Meryl Streep - I could go down a whole list, but I don't know if I should out them. Then, when everyone was saying that any person who criticized America at a time of war would be shunned and boycotted and ignored and vilified, the sales of my books and movies went through the roof."

The poster is exactlly what I needed!!! A co-worker and I got in a debate about the movie and he said him and all his friends were going to see it and I told him I would be there too with a big sign out front protesting it. Now I have the perfect sign
