Now if this had been Jean, Kerry'd've been cussing out whoever was nearby as this would've been all his/her/their fault.
Actually, he kinda reminds me of Gene Kelly, especially in the fifth pic down :)
I am not getting the comparison. Who is able to master the wind? If anything, this makes President Bush look emminently capable, not klutzy.
No problem. :)
I just saw Ben's name and printed the article last night before shutting down. First thing this morning, I was going to search out a thread, and there it was at the top of 'latest posts' when I signed on. :)
Kerry would never be carrying his own umbrella.
Ford was famous for falling down the steps from the plane. Chevy Chase for Saturday Night Live incorporated it in his characterization of him.
LOL
I KNOW that. I'm 45 years old and saw the skits myself. I don't think there is one bit of comparison between falling and having a gust of wind turn your umbrella inside out.
Now, if he'd lost control of the thing and thwacked the Secret Service agent in the head with it accidentally, or looked like he couldn't hold onto it properly while it was being rocked around so he looked goofy, that would be another thing and perhaps a source of amusement to those who wish to view him as a joke. Instead, this showcases a man in complete control.
That's what Marvin is for.
;)
He is sooooooooo darling!
Practically perfect in Every way!
I just love his expression - he is such a "regular guy".
Is that "Harry Potter" Bush:)
That is very cute. Kerry would not be holding his own,his man servant would be. This President has unlimited patience, and is not flummoxed by little problems that come up. He laughs at himself, and has so much ordinary everyday humility that it comes across as a wonderfully endearing character asset. This incident makes him all the more human compared to the elitist, snobbish gigolo from the peoples republic of Massachusetts. I have patience, but that umbrella in my hands would have been really flying.
Peanut butter sandwich in one pocket and folding umbrella in the other.....but of course.
ding ding ding
The Winner
I bet money he offered to and was turned down with a smile.
At least it's not a flip-flop! LOL!
we call this an SN-2 reaction in organic chemistry. The umbrella is perfect example of this conformational change.
