The Taps were hard for me to handle. There was a bugler on one side of the courthouse, and a second bugler on the other side. After the 21 gun salute, they played in sort of a round, sounding like echoes. It was pretty incredible. I also loved when the band played the songs for each of the branches of the service and folks in the audience stood up when their song played.

Thanks for the reports and posting the pics.

It was an honor to stand with the Robinsons and the rest of our MidMO FReepers today and it was really nice to be there without the useful idiots across the street.

Jim, Sheila and Chris - THANK YOU FOR COMING AND JOINING OUR CELEBRATION. It meant a lot to all of us.

And last but definately not least, THANK YOU MILITARY PERSONNEL, PAST AND PRESENT, AND THEIR FAMILIES FOR STANDING UP FOR AMERICA. YOU ARE ADMIRED, RESPECTED AND LOVED BY ALL REAL AMERICANS.

Taps hits me hard as well.

Before I joined the Army, I didn't know anything about it or what it symbolizes.

But now after being in a war, and with fellow Boone Countians who died in Desert Storm, I do know.

It tears me up.

Good to see you again, Jim.

A GREEEAAAAT time was had by all.
The parade, the courthouse ceremonies, the lunch afterwards, it was a fine day, and the company of conservatives.
What more could you ask for on a Memorial Day?
(Maybe a little liberal bashing but hey, you can't get everything you want ALL the time.)

I'll try to get my photos developed and post them here also but it might be tomorrow before they show up.

Glad to hear that you are all having fun.

I have been concerned about the tornados that the Midwest (you) are experiencing back there.

Nearly lost it when they played Taps for those who sacrificed all

There were many emotional moments. the one that choked me up was the WWII Purple Heart Recipient float. I was out in the street yelling "thank you's" to these guys when a couple of them stood and shouted "No, thank you for supporting the troops" and saluted us. I'm still basking in the glow.

I have a few pictures to post later tonight.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a parade!

We just had several storms (light) go through in the last couple of hours, but no tornadoes. They usually occur in the northern part of Missouri. Columbia is pretty lucky in regarding tornadoes.

Well, us Californians don't mind an earthquakes or two as long as they stay until 6.0. Most of us are terrified of tornados tho.

Don't remember when Joe Machen's got blown away? Or S. Providence got leveled (New Years Day?) Oh my! Or, Parkade? I only lived through 2 tornadoes when I lived north of here. There have been several since I moved to this area.
