Sen. John Kerry's record as an anti-war protester came back to haunt him on Memorial Day when he was confronted by a heckler as he tried to pay his respects to a soldier killed in the Vietnam War.
"How much money are you getting to betray our POWs?" an unidentified middle-aged woman shouted as Kerry visited the Vietnam Veterans memorial on the Washington Mall.
"Are you paying tribute to all the people you spat on, Senator Kerry?" she added.
The incident came as Kerry attempted to honor William Bronson, a Massachusetts native who was killed in Vietnam.
Kerry led the fight to have Bronson's name added to those already inscribed on the black granite wall, according to Reuters. "I'm glad we could finally get the appropriate thing done," the top Democrat told his mother, Barbara, who was there for the ceremony.
The heckling episode served to underscore the resentment many veterans still feel towards Kerry from his days as a leader with the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, when he teamed up with anti-American actress Jane Fonda.
Ironically, though Kerry has made his service in Vietnam a centerpiece of his campaign and has continued to attack President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard, veterans are shunning him, according to a poll released last week.
Though the CBS survey showed Kerry opening up an eight point lead over Bush overall, the poll's internal numbers show Kerry trailing badly among veterans, with only 41 percent supporting him while 54 percent back Bush.
Don't worry, you won't be hearing anything on Air America for long. It's an all volunteer staff working there now.
FOX again dropped story at 4PM PST reportMan, that's a bummer big time. I think I need to start watching CBS and
especially Dan Rather. He's a Texan, you know, same as Bush ....< /sarcasm >
"Ironically, though Kerry has made his service in Vietnam a centerpiece of his campaign and has continued to attack President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard, veterans are shunning him, according to a poll released last week."
People have learned (thanks sHill n Bill Clinton) to expect irony from forked tongued liberal lizards. I swear these lizard people return to their pods at night, unzip and step out of their human disguises. V creatures from outer space. Laughing...they're not one of us!
"Kudos to the woman who lit that creep up!"
I see great material for a comedy sketch here.
You see the woman heckler was initially hired by the Kerry camp to publicly praise Kerry but before she made it to the event she over did it with the crack pipe and thought Kerry was Bush. Gotta love those crazy liberals, spin them round and round ....
I don't have any problem or beef with his time spent in Viet Nam at all. It's what he did AFTER Viet Nam that I don't like. Spitting on his fellow soldiers with his lies, ya know ??

You know if I hadn't heard it myself, I would agree with you, but this afternoon, I actually heard Judy 'I just have loose skin on my neck syndrome' Woodruff actually report what the woman heckler said to Kerry today at the Vietnam Wall, "Are coming here now to praise those that you spat on then?".
No joking, CNN and Judy actually reported this on the air.
"John Kerry,
You are a scumbag traitor! How dare you send me an email on this day, Memorial Day, when we honor the sacrifices of their lives!
You sold out your fellow Vietnam veterans, tainted their honorable service and slandered their good names. with nothing but lies and innuendo, just to further your own political ambitions!
May you suffer humiliating defeat in November and shrink into political obscurity and annonymity.
In this Marine's opinion, you are an oxygen thief!"
Since he wants to be the president and has made the Vietnam War the centerpiece of his campaign, I have the right to question him, and his time in Vietnam isn't what he portrayed.

Kerry's Vietnam Doc: Wound Accidentally Self-InflictedThe Navy medic who treated Sen. John Kerry after he sustained his first battlefield wound in Vietnam said Tuesday that he thought that the injury had been inadvertently self-inflicted - raising new questions about why Kerry sought a Purple Heart after the incident.
Contacted by National Review Online, Dr. Louis Letson recalled that Kerry insisted during treatment that he was injured by enemy fire while his swift boat was patrolling the Mekong Delta on Dec. 2, 1968.
However, "some of his crew confided that they did not receive any fire from shore," the Navy doc told NRO.
Instead, his crewmen claimed that Kerry "had fired a mortar round at close range to some rocks on shore."
One crewman told Letson that he thought Kerry's injury "was caused by a fragment ricocheting from that mortar round when it struck the rocks."
Concluded Letson, "That seemed to fit the injury which I treated."
He described the top Democrat's wound as "a small piece of metal sticking very superficially in the skin of Kerry's arm.
"The metal fragment measured about 1 cm. in length and was about 2 or 3 mm in diameter. It certainly did not look like a round from a rifle."
Letson recalled that he "simply removed the piece of metal by lifting it out of the skin with forceps.
"I doubt that it penetrated more than 3 or 4 mm. It did not require probing to find it, did not require any anesthesia to remove it, and did not require any sutures to close the wound.
"The wound was covered with a bandaid," Dr. Letson said.
Based on the bandaid wound that was likely a result of a mortar round he fired, Kerry sought and eventually received his first Purple Heart. LINK
Thanks for the ping!
no pic = no story
Protest signs at a memorial service are distasteful to me but there were some at the service at the Wall. Man on the other side af a small fence directly behind the bugler that played Taps was holding up one.
Plus when I watched the replay there was no sign of Kerry. Article linked to in post 36 says
" John Kerry paid a solemn early morning visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Monday, offering a quiet Memorial Day counterpoint to President Bush's tribute to the fallen across the Potomac River at Arlington National Cemetery.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent miscellaneous ping list.
You silly! You just don't understand the nuance of his position!

Howdy ! :^DIf an audio/video clip of that woman who jumped Kerry exists, it NEEDS to be here. That would be priceless.
Oh, yeah ! It sure would, indeed !
Kerry was for the war in Viet Nam before he was against it before he was for it again.
I understand. The big deal to me is that it is KERRY that has chosen (as you stated) to bring up Viet Nam repeatedly. That makes it fair game for criticism.
I also saw an article about some of the folks he was serving with that saw him as so out of control and a 'maverick' that wouldn't work as a team player that THEY made sure he got the purple hearts so he WOULD get sent back home. I'm not sure that one is legit, though.
I also have trouble trying to resolve the conflict about his self-claimed "War Hero" status versus his activity as a traitor AFTER he came home - as an anti-war activist. WHICH is it ? Will the REAL Jean Keri please STAND UP ???
Why is it "heckling" when somebody speaks the truth to a slimy politician such as this?
