In high school I knew a young man named Jerry Fennell. We had a pep rally, and several students were doing musical skits of their favorite artists.
3 girls decided to do a skit of the Dixie Chicks song "Earl had to die." A guy I knew named Jerry Fennell was sitting behind me. During the entire skit, he was complaining! "What did Earl ever do?" "Man this is a bunch of crap!" "Why does Earl have to die?"
As a young Conservative I loved hearing it! By the way..as an insert to this story, Jerry lost his father at a young age.
I worked at a grocery store. After I'd worked there for a couple years, Jerry got a job there.
I had a problem with another worker at the store. And usually at this point I would take care of the problem myself. I am a fairly small guy, but I'm smarter than your average bear.
I was complaining about the problem to Jerry and another worker. "I'll take care of it," said Jerry. I told him he didn't need to worry about it. But he insisted. By the way, Jerry a 6ft tall muscular football player.
The next day the same worker that I'd had a problem with the day before was working very hard, and when I asked him to do something he promptly responded "Yes sir!" "Yes Sir!" "Right Away Sir!"
A year or two later we graduated high school. I had heard that Jerry had joined the Marines soon after we graduated in the year 2000.
From this point on..everyone knows what happened in September of 2001, and in April of 2003. In late April I'm watching Foxnews. Greg Kelly is interviewed some Marines who have just taken over one of Saddam Huessein's palaces.
Greg shows the video of them kicking one of the doors down! Greg them comes back LIVE and interviews them. Low and Behold! There's Jerry Fennell! In Baghdad!
He said hi to everyone back home! So today I happen to see his mom! I ask her how's he's doing! She said that he's fine, and that he's at home resting. Waiting to see if he'll get called back.
I told her to tell him that I said hi! And also.."Thank You."

Short and Sweet. I can't imagine being a Veteran of a war at 22 years old.

By the way..when I saw him being interviewed on TV..I posted an article about it on FreeRepublic.
But I can't seem to find it. The title was "Greg Kelly interviews a friend of mine on Foxnews!"

I was at 19. 22 seems old...
Wow!
I know what he told the troublemaker, and it is a technique that anyone can use with amazing success. He told the troublemaker, "ConservativeMan55 told me that you are doing a really great job!"
Nice story. Thanks for sharing.
bump!
