ALL Non-Islamic infidels are automatically,.....considered as 'enemy'.....'spies'.
Welcome to the 'Islamic Controlled'.....areas of the globe!
(All infidels 'die')

My answer: No, but I think the AlQ mob thought he was, because he cosied up to them.
So I guess, then it is not as bad that the Islamists beheaded him in a gruesome way. But if we strip TERRORISTS naked, then it doesn't matter that they are terrorists, we still shouldn't treat them that way, right?
The media is amazing. They are trying to make excuses for the terrorists.
Berg was a complete unknown. There is no reason for Moore to have known he existed except if he worked for Moore.
And we would send a Jew into that country to . . . what, pave the way for his success?
I was just gonna ask--did they get their information from Michael Moore, maybe?
There was an FR thread yesterday that speculated that Michael Moore might have hired Nick Berg to do work/filming/contacts in Iraq.
That sort of makes better sense than Nick Berg being a US government agent.
What about the Zaccarias Moussaoui connection?
Me thinks not a spy but a lover of islam with ties to al Qaeda that was sacrificed to create an uproar in the US.
Flame away!! I can take it. ;^)
OK, Even if Berg is James Bond 007, his Dad is still an A$$hole!
bump!
FYI
No. Not possible. He was a confused amateur, who seems to have been looking for some meaning in life after having been brought up by extreme leftist parents with no sense.
This story is little more than ignorant speculation without a shred of evidence. Berg is unlikely to have been a spy for the US because it would have been wretchedly bad tradecraft to use him.
Consider: (1) Berg's father is a flaming left-winger, which would raise questions about Nick Berg's loyalty and security; (2) he allowed an Israeli entry stamp on his passport and carried Jewish devotional objects, thus inviting unnecessary danger; (3) there was no credible intelligence purpose to his activity in Iraq; (4) and he was remarkably ingenuous and showed little sense about his personal safety.
A US intelligence agency would have use for a reliable Arab American who could infiltrate the insurgents, not a bright and foolishly risk-taking Jewish kid from Pennsylvania whose method of operation was to climb radio and microwave towers, evaluate them, and then see if he could get someone to pay him for repairs.
My suspicion: No. But that's not to say he wasn't a spy for ...well, take a guess.
It is beyond belief that Berg was a US Spy. He was Jewish in an Arab land. These people know one another, very well, after centuries of living near one another, the Sunnis know the Shiites from the Kurds etc. Just as most American Indians, raised, living with other Indians know one tribe from another. No, I doubt he was a spy, he was an adventurer.
I think one thing is for sure. Anyone who believes Moore was just a 'hapless kid trying to build his little business trolliping around the iraqi countryside', would be a good candidate to buy some oceanfront property in arizona! ;-)
There is a lot about this that is not known. truth is sometimes stranger than fiction; illusion and reality are not what they seem.
That is exactly what I thought.
BTW, if he were a spy working FOR us, wouldn't we have made sure he had a better cover than bopping around by his lonesome? How about making sure he was sprung out of custody? Why would we have offered to fly him home to the U.S. if our guys wanted him there? That idea--though I briefly considered it in the first day or so after word of his strange story emerged, simply does not fly.
Berg was a stupid idealog. His father killed him just like Corrie's killed her.
