Was Nick Berg a US spy?
Web India ^ | May 30, 2004 | IST

Posted on 05/30/2004 1:28:05 PM PDT by Rennes Templar

Nick Berg, the American beheaded by terrorists was allegedly working in Iraq as a spy for American intelligence.

It is suspected by some Washington insiders that Berg's links with espionage may have led to his gruesome execution that was filmed on a videotape by terrorists.

"Washington is rife with rumors that Berg had a connection to U.S. intelligence. Fuelling the suspicion is that he had Arab language capabilities and he's said to be a computer genius," The National Enquirer quoted a source as saying.

"Someone who was prepared to brave the dangers of traveling to Iraq on an apparently legitimate business trip would obviously be of great interest to American intelligence for what he could find out.

There's also a lot of suspicion that maybe Nick unwittingly got sucked into spy games that ultimately cost him his life," added the source.

Berg's family has claimed that the 26-year-old Pennsylvanian had travelled to Iraq to find work for his radio tower business company, Prometheus Methods Tower Service. But it has been revealed that there is no evidence at all that Berg's company actually existed.

According to the report, Berg was arrested by Iraqi police on March 24 and questioned repeatedly by FBI agents before he was released on April 6. The agents wanted to know how his e-mail password had reached a September 11 terror suspect Zacarias Moussaoui.

However, in a bizarre disclosure that may have led to his death, Berg even confessed to one of his friends in Baghdad that there was a belief he was an agent of some sort, adds the report.

Berg apparently tried to make his way out of the country on April 10 but was captured by terrorists connected to Al Qaeda associate Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. (ANI)

So I guess, then it is not as bad that the Islamists beheaded him in a gruesome way.

What if Moore himself went over there and they beheaded him in a gruesome way?

Moore had finished his film long before Berg was killed. Berg wasn't there for Moore.

It seems that Berg's father and Moore very likely would have known each other since they both despise this country and are working in the same direction --- Nick Berg could have been a gullible dupe of both or either one of them.

To work for the US government especially as a spy would require a background check which I don't think you could pass if it showed a close relative like Michael Berg.

"You kids have got Berg working for Moore in some anti-US conspiracy that went wrong....totally without one iota of support, just like Moore's own nonsense."

I recall similar skepics' utterings when the Monica Lewinsky thing first broke. That didn't amount to much.

This article is interesting. The head of the American Iraqi Council--Kubba is mentioned here.
Remember the #2 at the American Iraqi Council--Aziz Taee-- was convicted of being involved with the Russian Mafia and selling cocaine. Aziz was partnered with Berg.

I haven't had a chance to absorb all this yet.

My answer: No, but I think the AlQ mob thought he was, because he cosied up to them.

I think your answer is probably closest to the truth.

I want to correct post 87. The Kubba that is the head of the American Iraqi Council is named Ahmed Kubba. But the Sam Kubba mentioned in the article in post 87 lives in N. Virginia and is head of a very similarly named organization. Something like the Iraqi American Chamber of Commerce.

Possibly it is the same person. Or maybe not. Sometimes the same people have a few names.

This Sam Kubba seems to be tied to the recently disgraced Chalabi. I have not believed all of the dirt on this guy. After all, there were questions about him but the Pentagon used him anyway. Why the sudden fastidiousness?

Aziz Taee was definitely involved with cocaine for the Russian Mafia. And he was tied to Berg.

Some article claimed that Berg's killers were wearing gold jewelry. This might be the Russian mafia

Follow the money

Something like that wouldn't even be gruesome. At least not in the usual way.

Yep, I read that. I did alot of research on Aziz. Did you see my post HERE?

The details of the indictments were also posted, with a list of his co-conspirators.
CRACK VIAL DISTRIBUTORS CHARGED IN DRUG CONSPIRACY

Will read Sandline info mentioning Kubba now.

This article is interesting. http://www.sandline.com/hotlinks/Newsday_Erinys.html
Chalabi, who appears to be tied to the people I am looking at, is accused of organizing a private army to guard the oil fields in Iraq. What if this is somehow connected to ROC and Bin Laden?
.
As noted earlier, the #2 at the American Iraqi Council--Aziz Taee-- was convicted of being involved with the Russian Mafia and selling cocaine. Aziz was partnered with Berg. Aziz believed that iraq needed cell phones. Aziz also has internet correspondance with a guy named Tarik Handi http://soj.dailykos.com/story/2004/5/17/174040/985 Tarik Handi supplies Bin Laden with batteries for his satelite phone.

The #1 of the Annandale American Iraqi Council is named Ahmed Kubba. http://www.al-iraq.org/aic.htm
However, sometimes these guys have a few names. Sam Kubba (mentioned in the article linked at the top)is the head of the American Iraqi Chamber of Comerce. Ahmed Kubba is the head of the American Iraqi Council that Aziz Taee--cocaine dealer-- belongs to.

Maybe this is really same organization with a little different name for the organization and the leader.

Now when you see these people are accused of organizing private armies to guard oil fields and some have ties to ROC and Osama Bin Laden it gets a little suspicious.

And when you consider that Berg accidentally gave his e-mail to the so-called 20th hijacker Massoui it gets to be more than suspicious.

I haven't had a chance to absorb all this yet.

NO KIDDING! I'm trying to dissect this... here's a couple:

From the article:

Kubba, Sam CEO American Iraqi Chamber of Commerce

Kubba, Ahmed/Ahmad Director Iraq-American Council (with Aziz)

Kubba, Laith cousin of Ahmed Chalabi, second cousin of Sam Kubba

Chalabi, Mohamed Nephew of Ahmed Chalabi

Chalabi, Rushdi Brother of Ahmed Chalabi, father of Mohamed,
cabinet minister in Iraq before toppling of the monarchy
---------------------------
Other Sources:

Chalabi, Ahmad/Ahmed Iraqi National Congress, Under Investigation
for passing U.S. secrets to Iran

Kubba, Laith Wrote articles for the Financial Times, described as:
-Senior Program Officer at the National Endowment for Democracy
-President of the Iraq National Group
-Senior Associate at the National Endowment for Democracy
-Founding Member of the Iraqi National Congress

Yes, calcowgirl. I have read your posts. Very interesting.

Bin Laden uses operatives who are newsmen.
Tarik Handi, who gave OBL batteries for his phone is a media person according to this.
http://soj.dailykos.com/story/2004/5/17/174040/985

Aziz is also giving speeches to the media and others in his group were given media coaching by the State Department. This is very complicated.

Russian criminals must be selling weapons to terrorists in Iraq. The terrorists have Russian weapons.
