The Enquirer has been a conduit for the Clintonistas in the past, as well as a hotbed of Hollywood news.

I think it more likely that they have been "leaked" this information from the Moore camp, in order to cover Moore's rear.

Exactly what occurred to me.

Do you know when Nick Berg disappeared?

Note the date of Moore's message dated *after* Nick Berg had disappeared (though we didn't know it, yet). Obviously Nick Berg was there at the same time Moore claimed to have crews over there to get information.

I am not saying ergo Berg worked for Moore, but you are flat out wrong to say the times don't coincide. They definitely do:

Michael Moore's "Secret" Movie About the US Army in Iraq

April 14, 2004

Excerpt:

I currently have two cameramen/reporters doing work for me in Iraq for my movie (unbeknownst to the Army).

~snip~

BTW, at Cannes he said he had THREE crews over there secretly.

If Moore did that, he is beyond the pale, having impressionable young leftists doing his dirty work for him. It is appalling.

The idea that Berg was a U.S. spy appears ridiculous to me. He had no proper cover and seemed to wander about Iraq like a mad monk. I think he was a nutcase, a wannabe soldier-of-fortune of a fruitcake-y type more than the mountain-man type.

Whatever he was or had hooked up with before he was killed, I believe he was up to no good, perhaps naively and unwittingly. I also believe we WILL find out what he was doing, although maybe not right off the bat.

I do enjoy reading all detailed theories here of who Berg REALLY was, though....heheh

He was a confused amateur, who seems to have been looking for some meaning in life after having been brought up by extreme leftist parents with no sense.

That's what I think, too. This doesn't mean that he wasn't being used by others, though - ranging from his father to Michael Moore. He sounds too innocent for his own good, and I wouldn't be surprised if somebody convinced him that he could "negotiate" with AQ or take a "message of peace" to them.

Well .. Moore also said that he interviewed Fred Barnes, and Fred was on FOX a couple of days ago saying MOORE NEVER INTERVIEWED HIM, and Barnes further explained that he had never met Moore.

And .. if Berg were part of the intel committee .. the FBI would never have left him in the Iraqi jail .. they would have immediately taken him into their custody (on some pretext), and ferreted him away into hiding.

I'm anxious to see if the Cable talking heads take this up on Tuesday.

Moore never said a word about Berg that we can find until word about this interview was given to Salon, they say by someone not affiliated with Moore or his movie.

The story is that his crew, not Michael Moore personally, interviewed Berg at that conference.

I tend to believe the interview happened because of the supposed existance of the video proof of it.

Of course, we have no idea the tone or content, but it is damned odd.

It's different than the Barnes story. It all illustrates what a vile person Michael Moore is.

Come on, surely they don't think that anyone would be stupid enough to recruit American Jew as a spy in an Islamic country? Why not dress him up in a trenchcoat and dark glasses while they're at it?

When I was 18 I went to England, bought a bike, and spent three months cycling around Europe, with a ground cloth, a sleeping bag, and a spare set of clothes. I think I spent $600 for the summer, $300 for living and traveling expenses and $300 for a Leitz microscope I had promised to bring back for a friend of mine (for which I was reimbursed).

That was before the days of hippies. I just spread my bag in the woods, behind the bushes in municipal parks, and the like. Never had any trouble.

More likely Berg was a convert to Islam, and a true believer, but his captures never bought his explanation, and thinking Berg being an Israeli spy, executed one of their own.

I think he was one of those human shields people. His actions sound too clumsy to be anything else. The ironic thing is these animals would have killed Rachel Corrie just the same as him without beating an eyelash. So much for trying to make peace.

Liberals like to "float" rumors like this so his murder seems justified in their minds.

Aziz's organization is called the American Iraqi Council.

I drove over to their building yesterday because it is near my house. It is a dumpy brick midrise office building near a check cashing place and palm reading. A sort of cheesy street with dubious businesses. I didn't see the organization listed out front with other listings, but maybe they don't list. Trust me; this is not the office of Bush operatives. I know one person in the building, a lawyer. I think he does criminal law, but I don't know.

The address is 7263 Maple Place Suite 210 Annandale VA.
For you folks in N. Virginia, Maple Place is Backlick Road on the other side of Columbia Pike.

Here is the link for the organization that Aziz Al-Taee,
( one of his many names) the criminal who partnered with Berg, belonged to. He is listed second, so I wonder if this organization was really a criminal front posing as an emigre organization.
http://www.al-iraq.org/aic.htm

I think that this Aziz may have been involved in running drugs or weapons or both. He had ties in Philadelphia to the Russian organized crime.

The CIA does not exploit unwitting goofy kids and put them in dangerous situations. There are plenty of smart military types that can be spies.

This looks like some drug or weapons thing to me. Berg would be able to go anywhere because of his American passport. He could have been a useful go-between for Russian mafia and Iraq. I would take what Aziz says about Berg's activities with skepticism because he may be trying to blow smoke in our eyes. Who knows if Berg was writing his own e-mails.

The Russian tycoons are very into communications infrastructure. They need somewhere to put the money, and the media companies provide them with political influence.

Did anyone notice that the Russians said that none of their oil people were around during the terrorist attack at Khobar yesterday? Russians in the ME may have regular jobs and also belong to mafia structures. This would be weapons and drugs.

I have no inside information about this, but I have a background in Soviet Studies and have done research on drugs and weapons trafficking from time to time.
I think the young Berg was involved with a Russian mafia network. I don't think it was the CIA. I suppose the CIA might try to infiltrate the Russian criminal structures to get to Al Qaeda operatives, bu whould they use a Berg? He was a drifty kid who got in trouble for being a vagrant and who went from school to school never finishing anything.

The Russian mafia have armed people in the ME and in Chechnya. Where do you think terrorists get all the Russian weapons?
They basically infiltrated and took over the official weapons-selling businesses in the former USSR such as Rosvoruzheniye.
