Nick Berg: Michael Moore's secret cameraman?
Michael Moore, Salon.com

Posted on 05/28/2004 8:42:49 PM PDT by Objective Reality

Please pardon the vanity, but I've not seen this theory posited elsewhere in any searches I've performed.

First the admission from Michael Moore that he interviewed Nick Berg prior to his trip to Iraq. Why, in God's name, if Berg was just some foolhardy "mercenary" (as Moore calls Americans in Iraq in general)?

Then, with the slightest amount of further investigation, this post from Moore himself, on his own website. Note, very well, the date.

Quoting:

"I currently have two cameramen/reporters doing work for me in Iraq for my movie (unbeknownst to the Army). They are talking to soldiers and gathering the true sentiment about what is really going on."

Rather explains why Berg would have refused safe passage home from the military, doesn't it?

I therefore theorize that Michael Moore commissioned Nick Berg to act as his proxy / cameraman in Iraq with the stated goal of meeting and interviewing the "minutemen" of the "revolution," thereby directly leading Berg to his own murder, and making Moore himself more culpable than any member of the Bush administration in that murder.

If Moore has an interview with "pro-war-Bush-supporter" Berg, as is claimed, this should be very easy for him to deny.

Let him do so.

"I believe Moore was so elated by this report that it motivated the over-the-top mocking tone of his April 14th column, as he was then expecting a scoop of galactic proportions: the first on-camera interview with a leader of the noble resistence against the hated, evil "occupying forces."

That makes a lot of sense.

Nick-Berg-as-Bush-supporter was a cover story to deflect attention
away from daddy (and probably Nick's) ties to A.N.S.W.E.R., IMHO.

Thanks for the explanation. Moore's latest film was already edited and ready for release ... in the can as they say in Hollywood. But he could have been planning on a separate release of any Berg material.

I make part of my living debunking conspiracy theories. Nevertheless, we must acknowledge that real conspiracies exist, and this hypothesis has an excellent chance of being one of them. It carries no cosmic implications (controlled media, etc.), it involves only a few people (no Moon landing hoax, which would have required a million co-conspirators at the very least), and it passes the test of Occam's Razor, the common-sense principle that the simplest explanation that accounts for the facts is probably the right one.
In this case, we are working from a truly extrordinary set of facts, Moore's admitted relationship with Berg being the most remarkable.
The bottom-line: A young adventurer whom Moore has acknowledged knowing disappeared in Iraq at almost the same time Moore boasted of an imminent revelation from "secret agents" operating there. This young adventurer subsequently turned up dead and Moore has had no more to say about his secret agents.

Another detail: Moore claimed that his cameramen/reporters were working in Iraq "unbeknownst to the Army." Since the Army is aware of the affiliations of all declared journalists, this would require some sort of non-journalistic cover. A telecom contractor would be perfect.

I am familiar with your writings in the anti-crackpot-theory arena in this forum, and so your assignment of credibility to this theory holds substantial weight. My sincere appreciation for your acknowledgement.

I agree. If you are at all politically aware and savvy, as it seems Nick must have been with his dad offering countless views and his own interest in the topic, it seems unlikely that a pro-Bush, pro-war person would ever agree to meet with Moore.

Don't we all know what he does with video, no matter how innocent what is said may seem? I would never let him get me on camera to distort my words for his own agenda..I question why Nick would.

Many thanks, OR.

It just occurred to me that Moore not only looks like Teddy Kennedy, he now has his own version of Chappaquiddick: causing the death of a young person through gross negligence, then attempting to cover it up.

Your theory--concerning Berg martyring himself--is the only logical explanation for all of the known facts in this case.

eastforker said "I believe Nick was already dead at the time of the beheading. There was some apparent editing toward the end of the tape."

I have reviewed the tape frame by frame. There were 2 video cameras used to tape the beheading. Thus the "editing". Nick Berg was absolutely not dead at the time of the beheading depicted on tape.

If this is true, this Moore idiot has lots of explaining to do. If his Bush hatred is so rabid, that he would put people in harm's way to get a story, he should be imprisoned. He is a big risk to the so called "little people" he likes to say he is for.

I posted the following yesterday:

Moore interviewed Berg for "Fahrenheit"

Posted by savedbygrace to BurbankKarl On News/Activism 05/28/2004 2:13:02 PM CDT #717 of 1,455

Berg was acting as Moore's agent, trying to setup interviews with AQ bad guys. (Makes as much sense as anything else.)

From this article:

"He went to Iraq because he had certain beliefs about helping people in messed up situations, but it's not like he was trying to help the Bush administration," David Berg said.

There are more clues like this one. This guy was no gung-ho Bush/war/military supporter, if we can believe his brother. I think his father is complicit in Berg's murder, along with Moore and the terrorists.

What we have to find out is if Father Berg and Michael Moore have any other connection.

Also, since Moore says he had video fedexed from Iraq, how hard would it be to get the Fedex information about who sent it and from where.

"Who paid Nick Berg?"

That's the question. Most reports have him nearly broke and unable to find work on this second trip, yet towards the end, just before he disappeared, he told someone he had made $70,000 and was headed to Turkey for "sailing." Kinda makes you go "hmmm..." I'd love to know if Moore & co. sent him a big check.

CyberAnt, that is just not true. There are only two people that I know of who are saying he approved of President Bush and the war. Both have a reason to hide the truth. Meanwhile, his brother and people who knew him in Norman Oklahoma (where he "coincidentally" met the would-be 9/11 terrorist and gave/lent him his email password) indicate otherwise.

Consider: if his father put him in touch with Michael Moore for a job that ended with his horrible death, there's a guilt-thing at work here, plus reason to cover his backside.
