On April 29, 2004, as a service and tribute to members of the World War II Generation, the National World War II Memorial opened for public viewing, exactly one month prior to the formal Dedication Ceremony taking place May 29, 2004. The World War II Memorial is the first national memorial dedicated to all who served during the Second World War. The memorial, established by the American Battle Monuments Commission, honors all military veterans of the war, the citizens on the home front, the nation at large, and the high moral purpose and idealism that motivated the nation's call to arms. The Second World War is the only 20th-century event commemorated on the Mall's central axis.
(from www.wwiimemorial.com)

Don't forget that you can watch the dedication today!! God Bless all of our Veterans & Active Duty!!!

((HUGS))Good morning, MoJo. How's it going?

First off, let me join with everyone in a special tribute to all our veterans who hvae or are fighting on the battlelines for the freedoms we're enjoying and take so much for granted. Hopefully everyone will remember what this holiday is all about. It isn't just doing recreational stuff and having fun. It's also about honoring the memories of those who have fought in the wars past and present.

Secondly, today is promising to be a very active severe weather day in the plains. I would urge everyone planning activities to keep up with the weather today. Our area is included in the severe weather risk.

Finally, I'm entertaining guests. My brother and his son from Texas are up here to do some fishing. Fishing's good this time of year.

That's about all that's happening. What's up with you these days.:-D

You are absolutely correct. I hope people take time to honor our Veterans and our Active Duty. If we didn't have so many brave heroes, we would not have the luxury of holidays.

Wow! Your brother is visiting. That's fabulous. Going noodling or is that a summer thing?? I really could go for some fried Catfish. Yummy!! With some hush puppies. Okay! Now I'm hungry!

You have a fabulous time with your family!! I'm so glad you have visitors.

We'll say a big prayer to God that the bad weather passes.

*HUGS*

Not much going on in Virginny with MoJo's family. Just trying to get some stuff done today!

Thanks, radu.
I knew it was going to be a problem to load, but I couldn't shorten it.

I'm having my third.......fifth.....tenth.....or whatever, cup of coffee, and then I'm off to see the little punkin!

One of these days I'm going to put a video together of the Termite. I figure on his opening day playing linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys.

Got to run!
Y'all have a wonderful Memorial Day!

I have a short statement:

To My Daddy, I Salute you for your service.

To My Mommy, I praise you for your sacrifices and your scrapbook for the boys who went and lived and died, which I recently received from my Aunt.

To Thy Whole Generation: Thank You. Thank you for what you did -- the greatest endeavor ever accomplished in the History of Mankind.

You are all passing now. Sleep, sleep, know that we'll be with you soon. We are sorry we turned away. We will reclaim this country. So Help Us God.

Thank you for creating this memorial. I understand now that you did not create it for yourselves, but for us and for those that come after. So that we might remember always that Freedom is NOT FREE. And that there are some things worth dying for. This is your final gift, your final lesson. Bless You.

Thank You for raising us to know that death comes eventually to all men, and that we can look forward to being swept up in the Arms of Jesus forever and ever. We are sorry we turned our backs. As General MacArthur said so long ago, We Have Returned. To Our Church, our Government, and Our Country.

Old Soldiers Never Die, They Only Fade Away. God Bless You All. Amen.

Thanks, MoJo!

I'm glad I caught your post before I walked out the door.
I'd have missed that smooch and hug!

I know those with telephone ISPs can't load that, but all it will cost you for a CD of it is your address. I'll be more than happy to send it to you.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THOSE WHO DEFEND HER!

Thought it might be interesting to point out that while we remember the soldiers of our contry's past...the Long Gray Line is graduating the soldiers of our future today (I think it's today).

Congratulations to the Class of 2004 @ West Point.
